I found this image remarkable... it shows the scale of the new car compared to a vintage one. Now, I realized the big wheels on the new GT-H makes it look more stout...but it really dwarfs the '66 profile.

If you love it or hate it--to me it doesnt matter.
What does is that they ARE MAKING THEM. I hope to see a Navy Blue Z28 with white rally stripes.
I am really glad they are making them, which means a possible black Trans Am in the future as well.

Again, -- I am glad they are making them, we need a pony car out there to compete int he market place and get the FORD dealers to STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF FOR GT500s ...(cough) ----huh, there I feel better.
Of course this does not stop the GM dealers from engaging in some creative pricing tactics of their own. OR the Nissan Dealers with the GT-R car. (sigh)

If in real life, the quality and workmanship come through on the new Camaro it will be a winner. There are just too many Chevy lovers out there and success will come if the car measures up.
From the photos I saw there appears to be a lot of gap where things fit together and the dash gauge housings look like the cheap stuff on the originals...but you really can't judge until they're at the dealers. We can assume the Camaro will be very popular, best of all Ford and Chrysler will have to keep up their own progress to remain in the competition.

Ron,
I agree. The size difference is remarkable, but I think the camera angle is really playing it up as well.
Bill, I'm w/ you on the cheesy looking guage cluster
I'm also not crazy about all the plastic cladding in the engine compartment of this and most new cars.
That said, overall I love the car and wish GM luck w/ it. They could use a break at the moment.

Personally, I think the whole thing looks very weird. A cross between a stealth fighter, and an Imperial Storm Troopers helmet. Not a good semblance of an original Camaro at all. And like the new retro mustang, this new Camaro is also significantly bigger in weight and size than the original Camaro.

The "cheesy looking guage (sic) cluster" is directly out of the 69 styling book (69 and 10 gauge clusters pictured below). Overall I like the look of the car, and its weight is almost identical to the latest Mustang.

The thin steering wheel of old looks a lot like the 16" in the OEM Cobra applications.
It's huge undertaking for the engineers to take a fresh idea, test the market, turn it into a concept car, sell the idea to the powers that control the corporate purse strings and then actually bring it to market. Keep in mind the safety mandates, emissions, perceived market and unknown stumbling blocks such as the current fuel situation. It will increase showroom traffic and bring exposure to more of the Chevrolet lineup. Customers have been asking about it for almost a year. The horsepower race of the 21st century is in full swing. Those that missed the 60's missed a Hell of a time...........

Hello All,
All this Camaro talk is getting me down, what about the 500KR? You all are going to Chevy hell and will be staring at orange walls for the rest of time. Go blue or go away I REALLY like the photo's from my 7 month old motor trend and the transformer movie, but I suppose any car looks great with Megan Fox in it! These photo's either are not very appealing angles or it was altered in not such a good way in the quest for a production car.

Oh you know they'll include that in some trim option group and nail the buyer for another grand.
I also noticed another true Camaro anomaly. The badge on the rear says 'RS', but when you look at the front I don't see any hide-a-way headlights?!? How can you possibly have a modern version of a First Gen RS Camaro without hide-a-ways?!?
The more I look at the comparisons and what they did incorporate (and, in some cases, how they incorporated it) vs. what they didn't, I just start shaking my head more and more. But people will buy them because it's something else to hot rod (and the Transformers movie hooked a generation of kids to this car...great marketing call by someone who undoubtedly got a promotion with that deal).
I wonder how long the IRS suspension will last before people start snapping half shafts? The Z06 crowd knows a lot about this issue with the C6s. They better over-engineer it or it will become a warranty repair nightmare.
I get the new safety and mileage requirements. But don't you think they could have accomplished something a little closer? Enthusiasts have been screaming for a factory built retro rod with all the modern conveniences but in a "back in the day" wrapper. This isn't it, folks.

I'm pretty sure the IRS is right out of the Pontiac G8 (much heavier car with tons of power) The press image of the IRS looks really impressive. I would love to bolt it into an ERA kit. Jag parts are just getting to hard to find.

Having purchased an early 06 C6 Z06 and following them closely on various forums, etc., I can count the number of Corvette Forum-reported Z06 half-shaft failures on one hand. Of course, each of those reported incidents generated about 500 posts on an internet forum. Some of these occurred on heavily modified cars. You are repeating an internet myth.
And this is from a car that is not designed as a drag racer, yet continually posts times in the low 11s bone-stock.

Here is a pic I just found on edmunds, of the actual Camaro rear end assembly. Hmmmm, probably TOO WIDE. To narrow it would probably be a lot of work or possibly not worth trying.
