3rd Annual NorCal Cobras Toy Drive...Dec 19th
Hey dudes-
It's that time of year! Last year was a great success and I'm sure this year will be great as well. We will be visiting Sutter Hospital again, and they are very excited to have us back. I have already made the arrangements, all you have to do is show up.
Date is Dec 19th (third Saturday) We will be having 2 toy drop-offs this year. See details below.
-9:00am Breakfast at Perko's Cafe
(formerly Bradshaw's) near Hwy 50 and Bradshaw. Perko's will reserve parking for us like last year. Address is 9647 Micron Ave, Sacramento, CA 95827
-11:00am Toy Drop-off #1 to benefit Sutter Hospital pediatric department at 5151 F st.
**Toys must be new, and not gift wrapped.** Toys can be stuffed animals, play doh, anything from newborn to age 18.
The hospital did express a need for the following:
-Current children's movies on DVD
-Fisher Price Dr. Kits
-Infant mobiles, rattles, & crib toys
-Don't forget stuff for teenage boys & girls
The current plan is for us to use the physician's parking lot in front of the hospital, with a possibility of parking in the front entrance like last year. (I'll know more as we get closer, the hospital just needs to confirm about parking in the front entrance.) Address is 5151 F st, Sacramento, CA.
-1:00pm Toy drop-off #2 at St John's Shelter for Women & Children
Address is 4410 Power Inn Road, Sacramento 95826. See post #17 in this thread for more details.
A few things to keep in mind:
-Santa Hats/antlers/elf hats required!
-This is a rain or shine event!
-Please post your commitment & how many people attending. This way I can track the numbers for the restaurant.
Thank you in advance for your participation. This really means a lot to the kids and their parents.
So... time to get the "count me in" list started:
Attending: 2
Bringing: 4 toys
Please reply accordingly.
Thank you,
Justin
PS, Here's a pic from last year!

Question
Hi Justin / All,
Since we had not heard anything yet about this years toy run, Sorry... but I was also planning something for the 19th with St. Johns Women and Children Shelter. It was tentatively planned but sort of already in motion. I'm hoping we can still make soemthing work here... Do you feel like giving even more to those in need ???
QUESTION/REQUEST to the NorCal Cobras Group?:
Would there be any interest by the group in doing TWO drop-offs on the same day, the first being Sutter at 11a.m. and the 2nd being St. Johns Shelter at 1pm?
If so, I know it would mean a lot to the women and children over at the shelter. 65 kids over there... 17 of them being 2 years and younger and 22 of them 2-6 years of age, etc.
Please reply YES to Shelter if interested in a 2nd toy drop/destination.

Duane,
YES, let's do both drop-offs. Let's double up the donations and give to more people who are in need. Sounds good to me.

That sounds like a plan Duane. It's on the way back anyways. The more kids we help, the merrier....

Justin for Prez
Justin,
You are awesome, man. My wife, who is a nurse at Sutter, has been asking if it was going to happen again this year because it was such a huge success and appreciated by all last year. I have been intending to e-mail you, but things keep getting in the way.
If you are interested, I have an vacant seat just for you - so let me know.
Two and 2+ toys
Thanks for your efforts!

I'm cobra-less at the moment, but if I can fit it in the schedule, I'd do both.

I am, unfortunately, nailed down by single-parent-itis this weekend. We've done our share of contributions to similar efforts but I hate to miss this one.
