"Hey Ken, broken windshield..., wanna paint my car?"
A few minutes after removing a broken windshield with intent to replace it, something more than Silver memories and winter blues took over. Gave a quick call to Ken Pike over at Ken's Customs in Yuba City to see about removing more than a few chips off the front end and possibly taking it one step further. I guess its never too late to go back and recapture that very first Cobra "Some Day" vision. Can't wait to pick up the car Ken, Thanks! For me growing up, it was always solid dark blue, no stripes, black pipes! ERA623 version 2.0 developing soon.

Nice Pictures
Duane: Ken Pike did a nice sanitary paint job on the re-paint. I like the Blue better than the previous silver. It sure shines. Well worth the effort to take the car a part to re-paint it. bisconti

Kgs365, Pat:
Exactly! I've actually been thinking about doing black centers quite a bit. Keeping the black pipes, black rollbar, and probably doing black centers for the wheel. I've always liked the "less is more" look; more track-stealth theme the better. I like wearing old jeans better than new ones too.
Rick,
Okay, I will get the kit out for ya. I read a post where I thought you came up with something else instead, so I thought you had something else going. Will do, I'll send you a PM next week.

Duane,
Looks great! Always liked dark blue on a Cobra. Which blue did you go with?

Looks great Duane. It looks very similar to the Pontiac "Nightwatch Blue" I'm painting My 65 GTO. We'll have to do a side by side picture!

Great look....it will be hard to get used to seeing you in a car of a different color. You'll be able to hide for a while. Maybe?

Heheheh. Hide is right. I'll need to focus a bit more to find it in a sea of Cobras at Breakfasts, or when we get pulled over in a group, I'll just say "not me, it was one of the other ten Blue Cobras officer". Ran solid Silver for almost a decade, former Cobra was solid Black, this time around i went with the color I originally wanted all along.
Had the paint-on clear rock-chip guard applied this time on the nose of the car and front of the rear fenders. Color is a bit of a hybrid deal, so anyone who wants to get their car painted at Ken's, he can explain further. I came up with a color and Ken came up with a color. In the end, I went with Ken's pick and glad I did. Ken has a REALLY great eye for this stuff as many of you are well aware; that's why he painted the car instead of me. Ken is the master.

Hope there is less road debrie in Cali than here.
Decooney Duane We have a guy at my dealership that just had that clear nose shield installed on his BMW 7 series convertiable. Lasted for 2 weeks and started to peel. Car is black. He lives down at the shore and the roads are full of sand and small stones. High way debrie works OK, Around town he added a nose bra on top of the shield. I had a nose bra on my 79TA for years and it saved the nose paint. I took it off every time for washing the car, about 2 weeks. This extended the life of the car paint many years, about 62 k miles. Rick L. Ps some one was selling bras for cobras here. The good ones will not rub the paint.

Hi Rick,
This is not the stick-on stuff. This the high end paint-on clear guard material. We did the front of my car all the way up to the first hood opening line. We did this same paint-on guard on the custom one-off a.k.a "Lister COOX" car I designed and built for my long time friend; Ken did the paint and clear guard on this one too. Amazingly enough the car has been on the road for just under three years now and there not one chip on it; stuff is really good. Its actually pretty easy material to fix too if you had to. Definitely the way to go, especially for road-warriors, track dogs, and autocrossers like you
Here is a photo of the front of the Lister COOX car we did, painted it half way up the nose. Buffs out okay too and there is a line but its worth it.

Well, I like the solid blue and the no stripes. You should do it right and go with the stainless pipes and chrome rollbar.
