Cool April 20th - Third Saturday

So, it's only two weeks away and we've heard some suggestions for the April meeting. One suggestion was to drive south and meet up with our friends from down there and perhaps those from the Bay area as well. Let's hear about some routes and stops from those that have some specific thoughts.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good spot to meet up in the Delta, maybe Isleton or Walnut Grove. A drive along the levee roads sounds like fun to me.

There's several places for lunch such as Moores River boat, Al The Wops in Lock, Gusti's, The Grand Mansion Inn, the ride along the river this time of year is really pretty. just some thoughts.

Murray, Rod, Ray:

The Delta idea is something that had been batted around some in recent conversations and the last get-together as I recall too. Nothing was solidified, and it sounds like you guys have been doing some thinking already... might be a great idea to go ahead and pick a place you like and go for it. Anything you guys pick will be fine. I did not hear back from the CVR guys about April and I looked into Sonoma Square for May, but that is not going to happen either as it turns out. April and May are wide open as far as I know, just to pass it long. Go for it!

The main thing form April will be to select a morning meetup spot and time to depart from so folks can drive down together. Going west, maybe folks can meet somewhere closer to down town or just off highway 50 and jet out from there. I hope to make it.

Good thoughts Duane,
Could someone that has phone numbers for some of the CVR guys call and invite them and maybe get a suggestion for the lunch stop? I don't know about any of the places Ray mentioned as far as parking goes - and that is always a concern i'm sure. Once the lunch location is picked we can pick a Sacramento morning coffee & meeting location.

Ray,
What is your recommendation for a place with adequate blacktop parking? If you have a place in mind, it seems the group could use your help picking something down that way... thanks.

Murray,
I will go ahead and put a call out to the CVR guys once we get an idea on where and when. Maybe one of them will see this tread before then and reply.

Hey Guys, thought I would let you know about May. Ken Pike called me a week ago, said he would be planning a get together at his shop in Yuba City. Although he hasn't posted an invitation yet, he told met to make the you aware of his plan. he was thinking of the 3rd Saturday which would be May 18th. I imagine he will post a notice soon with further details.

FYI - Al The Wops and Gusti's are great places, but parking is non-existent for our group, unless you want to park in gravel at the bottom of a hill.

I've done some calling around the Isleton area and have come up with this information.
Locke Garden Restaurant - seems to be asian food with parking on the street and in the library parking lot. Open at noon.
Busaba on the Delta restaurant - talked with Rodger, the owner, he only has 6 or 7 paved spots but a good deal of grass around the corner. he is open at 8am, has 35 seats.
The Grand Island Mansion is only open on Sundays for a brunch. After that it looks like Rio Vista might be the next place down River.
Thoughts or suggestions?

I've heard no suggestions so here is the run for those that would like to join in 3rd Saturday fun this coming Saturday.
"The Golf Club at Rio Vista".
Directions for Third Saturday’s morning meet, drive, and lunch at “The Golf Club at Rio Vista”.
Schedule for the Sacramento morning meeting place – let’s meet at “The Streets of London Pub” parking lot between9:30 and leaving at 10am. 2200 Lake Washington blvd. W. Sacramento
Take I-5 south to Hwy 50 (Capital City fwy) west and go over the Sacramento River. Take the Jefferson Blvd off ramp and bear left to the Jefferson blvd stoplight. Turn left on Jefferson blvd heading south.
A couple of miles south turn right at the traffic light onto Lake Washington Blvd and right again into the “Streets of London Pub” parking lot.

An hour or more with stops? down Hiway 160 through Clarksburg, Courtland, Walnut Grove, Ryde, and Isleton will get us to Rio Vista. Turning right at Hiway 12 and going across the river, through Rio Vista about a mile, and a right on Summerset Rd. That will have us at the Golf Course at Rio Vista for our lunch around 12:00 noon. A head count would be good so we know who we’re looking for in the morning and lunch.

My car is at FE Specialties getting a long over due to check-up to sync things up. Not sure when I'm going to get it back but I want to take some time to sort it out after I do. Not too sure I'll make this trip.... will see.

Thanks for your effort, Murray

I plan to do the ride, and maybe a passenger for the head count.

Sounds like a great plan Murray.

Unfortunately Lisa and I are going to Kool April Nights this weekend thus will not be able to attend.
