Advanced Chassis Cobra in storage

I have a cobra I built in 94-95 and showed at Hot August Nights in 95-96. Since then it has been in storage and I think it needs a new home. I am looking for someone who is looking for a project car and was wondering if this is a good place to start.

This is a great place to start. Post as many pictures as you can (or a link to pictures) and ask what we think that it is worth. You can start there.

PS, shameless plugs for your books are a bit frowned on around here. At least until we get to know you and maybe even then.

FYi, I don't believe ClubCobra member Gary Davis added that link himself in his post. Something called "viglink" automatically inserted it like spam into his post without him knowing it. Ugh, its a new type of forum spam for advertising. If you notice, when you click on it in his post, the Gary Davis link then brings you to a book for sale on eBay with the name Gary Davis in the title.

Opt Out of viglink here: http://www.viglink.com/opt-out

Thanks, Duane. I opted out of viglink, left this topic, came back and the hyper link on Gary Davis is gone. What are they going to come up with next?!

Gary - we're still interested in learning more about the car you have in storage.

tcrist 07-09-2013 10:26 PM

Gary,
If that was not a shameless plug for your book then I appoligize. And yes, as Phil said, we are still interested in more information about your Replica.

Duane,
So if you type anything in a post then VigLink automaticly links it? Interesting, seems as there would be more stuff linked. Thanks for the info on how to turn it off.

decooney 07-10-2013 07:27 AM

Apparently people put this viglink html code in their web pages, and if you click on an enabled link on the site, you are now viglink enabled - I guess. Its been around for a few years. It sure makes web and forum surfing irritating when your moves, links, and purchases become traced. Many people who use this service complain its not that accurate anyhow, so it just makes for one more piece of cybergarbage to deal with along with spam. Ugh.

Gary, as others said, post some photos or links to photos if you can.

Cobra in storage

Thank you for your response to my message. I have no idea how a book advertisement came up with my message. That was the first message I have ever posted and do not spend much time on a computer , I build homes in the Placerville area of California. I have pictures of the Cobra during construction that I will try to put in a format to use on the computer. I would like to show the frame and suspension used as the foundation of my car at the time I built the car I felt it was the best on the market. Again thank you for your intrest I hope this car will become a great project for someone I know when I drove it it felt like driving a slot car.

Thank You.

Iam not sure how to give you more information, I made a replay to my first track but I dont know if I should respond to each track like this or do a new one or what is the correct way to get the information out. Let me know and I will learn.

Thank You Gary !

Gary,

Don't know what you mean by a replay of your first track.

Post some pictures in a photo album either here on CC or on another site and link them here so people can see what you have.

Just keep replying on this thread so you do not have a bunch of different ones.

What is shameful is this site has made this piece if s*** part of their normal mode of operation. There is a button well hidden somewhere on one page that disables this context linking but it is rude and obtrusive.

I hope you will be able to see the construction I used on this car. When I started this I tried to find the best and safest rolling chassis to start with The frame is all built from 1 1/4" round tubing, front suspension is 94 Corvette with rake and pinon steering. Rear is custom build independent with a Ford 9" diff. w Detroit Locker, 94 inboard Corvette breaks and dual coil over shocks. 18 Gal. fuel cell was used. The Cobra was driven and shown in 94-95 then due to personal family matters was put in storage at that time. The car was run an average of 3 times a year. I thank you for your time looking at this car and realize I am selling this as a project car due to the time in storage, and I am hoping to find someone who is looking for a project with what I feel is a very good starting point.

Thank You.

Gary,
as to your original question, here is some feedback and I suspect you make get more from others in different regions.

First, I would see about uploading high resolution (larger) photos to your site. Having lots of photos in a Gallery is worth a lot and can help answer questions and bring the right type of buyers who might be looking for a custom cobra project like this.

Next, create a list of all the components you have with the car. Chassis/Engine build history is helpful too. If you have receipts for the components, note that for sure.

List it with a title as something like a Custom 427 Cobra Project.

If you are in NorCal, you could list it on Sac and SFBay Craigslist for starters.

Then, list it on Cobracountry.com in the Cobras for sale section. Lots of lookers here.

Lastly, list it on eBay with as many keywords as possible. eBay is hit and miss.

If you are serious about selling it faster, list it on all locations at once for more exposure. Good Luck, hopefully this helps for starters.

Gary,

It would be beneficial if you can include any of the original literature on the “Advanced Chassis Cobra” design with your postings. I looked at this chassis in the early ‘90’s at Gary’s shop in the Oakland, Ca area. I remember the frame having multiple rows of tubes and reinforcement along with a dropped floor.

I don't think there are too many of these chassis’ out there so any additional information for the next owner can be helpful. Good luck with your sale.
