Default help with fi on 5.0 in a factory five mkll

fired up car 2 days ago and it ran fine. moved car to shop to work on it. next day went to fire it up and it would run but acted like it was starving for fuel. once it warmed up it seemed ok. today it would try to start for a second but wouldnt catch. I removed air cleaner and used some starting fluid. it fired up but still acted like it was starving for fuel. you could run the throttle up slowly and get some rpms ok, but if you stabbed the throttle it wouldn't gain any and almost stall. I know its a fuel problem and before I yank the tank and put a new fuel pump in are there any tests I could do? New to FI motors. eveything I have owned before was old and had a carb on it. Thnaks in advance and looking forward to some 3rd saturday breakfasts. car did sit for quite a while. fired it up occasionaly, but that was about it. put in fresh gas and fi cleaner.

Hello Johnc427. I don't know anything about FI either, but I assume there is no fuel pressure guage at the inlet. This is probably no help at all but just to get things started, did you disconnect fuel line at the FI unit, turn on electric fuel pump and verify good strong flow from line?

Not yet. I am waiting for some more suggestions to try. but that is first on my list to do. I appreciate the info. Hopefully I will get to some breakfasts and meet all you guys. I met bob "clayboy" 4 years ago when a bunch of you went to monterey. and I have known Ron Rowberry for a while, looking forward to making some runs. Thanks

That's usually what happens when a fuel pump dies. The easiest test is pressure. You should be able to go to Autozone and borrow their test kit for free.
