Possible problem in the distributor cap? Are you running electronic ignition?

MSD. I pulled all the plugs and they all appear to be good and clean - makes no sense.

Check the MSD website. They have some info on checking resistance in plug wires. You can also check google for checking resistance of spark plugs. Hope this helps.

Phil,
Look to see if the center carbon button on the inside of the distributor cap is malformed or sunk in, misaligned. Just went through all of this on my car, thinking it was fuel or electrical after the car sat too long. Ended up being a bad pickup line in the fuel tank and intermittent check valve sticking in the 8 month old mechanical fuel pump, replaced under warranty. The pressure gauge was telling me where to look with a bouncing needle, intermittently, but I checked everything else anyhow.
Might have to start from scratch, checking all the basics. Start with checking fuel pressure, check MSD pickup coil/resistance, look for a cracked dist cap, maybe a plugged needle jet in carb after sitting too long, etc.
Why did you think it was #6 again?

Zero compression in #6
I'll know more when I get the valve cover off.

Phil,
Now that the less serious causes have been eliminated, I hope it is not valve springs or something worse down below.
