Footbox is tight - driver stepped on accelerator when he thought he was pressing on the brake pedal.

Must have been an auto.

Driver needs some education.

Maybe learn how to left brake like a go-kart racer.

See this on the news a lot, I reckon all cars involved are autos.

Well it looks as if he managed to his his garage wall also according to this.

Security logs for Tuesday add the following details: "While the engine was running, the vehicle had a mechanical malfunction. The vehicle lunged forward and struck the garage wall. The owner and driver put the car into reverse. The vehicle then rapidly accelerated in reverse out of the garage, went across the street and came to rest with the rear of the vehicle through the wall of the house and into the front room."

That explains why the head lights are broken/missing.

All kidding aside, and when there's not going to be any major litigation because no one was hurt, the owner/driver should really explain what it is that happened so that others can learn from it. Not talking about it doesn't help anyone. I remember when one of our members here "shot the ramps" out from under his back wheels and nailed the ankles of a family member -- it never occurred to me you could even do that. This "I don't want to talk about the accident..." is bullsh*t. As an example, I specifically installed a neutral safety switch on my car after reading about a Cobra "driving off by itself" after someone reached in to start the car, believing it to be in neutral, and it wasn't. I tend to do that myself sometimes during tuning sessions.

The only malfunction here was the driver.

I’m unbelievably disappointed in everyone here. No one wants to say the tired well-worn cliche post of “that’ll buff right out”?

By the way, if that Cobra had been beige in color, then it would have blended nicely with the drapes.

Just another reminder how dangerous these cars are. If the guy was in the car then you think he could of done something to prevent this, especially after it lunged forward into his garage for some unknown reason. Thats a cue to shut it down immediately to figure out what the hell is going on, not a time to shove it in reverse. Sucks for everyone involved and that guy went from the cool dude with an awesome car in the neighborhood to the not so cool guy. My car still scares me at times and thats a good thing IMO.

What about this guy's? No brakes? Because first the front hits, panic's then puts it in reverse, with still no brakes, bang hits the neighbors house backwards. But the important thing here, he panic's, I just bet. never thought to turn the key off. Odd's are a Auto. Makes sense??

I've seen this type of accident happen several times at dealerships I've worked at. Sometimes people die. When in full panic mode clear thinking flies out the window. Remote starter buttons for bumping a motor around can be very dangerous if you're distracted for example. Not limited to autos, manuals can do it too. Reaching in to crank an engine can be a heartbreaker also. I once saw a coworker reach in to turn key and to motorized sholder belt wrapped around his neck and pulled him away from the ignition switch so he couldn't turn it off. He made comical noises.

A sad situation. There is alway the possibility that when pressed on the brake the peddle went to the floor, an with the close proximity of the peddles he also depressed the gas unknowingly. (with the power that may be here it could over power the brakes easily). Also to the other members here; don't be so critical of the owners driving skills, it could happen to you too. Plus there was know mention that there was anyone in the car at the time.

Mark.

Yes, kind of like that TV show in the 60's where a guy buys an old Porter touring car and finds out the ghost of his mom lives in it. But, in this case, it's the ghost of his ex-mistress and she's really out to pay him back....

Ya, that went WAY over my head. Not sure what TV show is being referred to and I've never heard of a "Porter touring car."

I could google it, but I'm too lazy.
