Cobra Day - The Cobra Experience
The Cobra Experience in Martinez is having a Cobra Day car show on 6/2/18 from 10 AM to 2 PM. There are a number of Cobra categories for originals and replicas, there will be up to 150 pre-1970 cars in the show, and they welcome others as spectators. You can also tour the Cobra Experience museum if you want to - a really enjoyable exhibit!
Pam & I have entered the show, and we would like to get a group from NorCal to do the drive with us. Steve & Jim had expressed an interest in going - anyone else?
Several people also mentioned a route from Folsom to Martinez that avoided Highways 50 & 80 - I would welcome any suggestions, as I’d like to plan something that provided a more intersting drive than the freeway.
On a related note, Steve had mentioned the possibility of doing a drive to Blackhawk. Any developments or interest in this drive?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Bill & Pam

Hey Bill and Pam! I know I was late getting back to you but I will be there and I recruited Brian Holbrook as well. We both registered and will see you there!

Jim:
I believe registration is only required if you want to participate in the car show, not just to attend. I’ll see if I can verify that, and we’ll post a time to meet in Folsom, and the Delta drive route later today if you want to join us.

Jim- not sure about having to register if you only want to go but I screwed around and waited until Friday. I called the lady in charge and she told me to go on line and register right away, so I did and it took my registration. Registration includes lunch, so maybe you need to try ASAP. Hope to see you there! Brian and I will probably go down the river road to Hwy 4, then west to the event.

Jim:
I emailed Emily at The Cobra Experience, and confirmed that you are welcome to attend without registration, but she said you won’t have assigned parking, which the registrants do, and the parking might be a bit of a walk. If you’re inclined to register you’ll get a “goodies bag”, lunch, and BOGO entry to the museum, as well as participation in the Final Cruise Lap at 2:00 PM that Cobra Experience has set up, including providing a contributor with a ride in your car for the lap if you want to. Sounds like we are going to take the same route as Steve, and we’re supposed to arrive at The Cobra Experience between 8:45 and 9:15 AM, so we were going to meet anyone that wanted to do the drive at Palladio at 7:00 AM, and then take the Delta route to TCB.

I'm in!
Bill and Pam, since I'm so close to Clarksburg, why don't I meet you there on your way through. There is a wine tasting venue there just off the River Road called the Sugar Mill. I can wait for you there. What do you think?

You got it! I’ll make sure we have the correct route, and let you know what time we expect to be there.

I've been kicking this around and I'm going to pass. Had the car towed home a few weeks ago due to blown coil and still keeping an eye on the new motor. So rather than chance it getting that far away...... well, I'll pass. Sounds like a great drive though.

Phil:
Sorry you can’t make it, however Shelby American Automobile Club of Northern California is having a picnic at The Cobra Experience on 7/15/18. Perhaps by then you’ll have the car in shape and you can do the drive.

Had a great time at the Cobra Experience. What a cool place. Original Cobra Row, at the car show was fantastic! Thanks Bill and Pam for the heads up and thanks for leading us down to Martinez. Barbara and I both enjoyed the whole day, except for the traffic coming home between Davis and West Sac. Holy Moly!! My clutch leg got a real work out.

Jim:
Sorry for the delay in responding, I’ve been remiss in checking the site since our Martinez trip. Pam and I thoroughly enjoyed the day as well, but we got caught on 80 in the same traffic you talked about. Got so hot that I had to pull over and get Pam iced down to avoid heat stroke. It was worth it though, we look forward to future adventures.
