Bummer :( - father's day weekend and we're going to Lake Oroville with my daughter for 4-days of boating. Anything going on this weekend (6/10-11)?

Don DePontee 06-06-2006 09:10 PM

Hey Duane, I think your a month behind as we are in June LOL. Anyway here is a good one that we did about a year ago:
This months breakfast will be on Saturday the 17th of June.
Lets have breakfast at the Apple Cafe on highway 50 just a mile or so east of Placerville on the right side of the highway near the apple hill area. If you get to the Camino Heights exit you have just passed the cafe. Everyone get there by 8:30am to give time for the usual parking lot get together with breakfast at 9:00am.with a short drive through the foothills to the Villa Toscano Winery for some wine tasting. If this works for everyone I will call the Apple Cafe to make the reservation.

Don,

How far would the drive be, 50 - 60+ miles? I would want to come up for breakfast and a nice drive. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks, John

Hi Don,
Yes, ugh, I'm stuck in May in my head, meant 6/17. THANKS for pointing that out. I'm definitely in for breakfast and a drive as well. Saturday morning wine is bit early for me, but if the drive is nice, it could work.

Are there any decent roads back there to drive on for those who might want to skip out early on the winery and go do some driving?

maurice19 06-07-2006 07:14 AM

You are right, Ed

Hard to believe

I won't make it this time, I have to work. But the car may be up and running for the next one. Cross your fingers.

vince911cobra 06-07-2006 02:37 PM

I'm in for Sat. Another nice place to go is the Hot Rod Cafe on Hwy 49 in Angels Camp. There is also Ironstone Winery and Jamestown down the street for after breakfast. The drive is about 50 miles from Folsom.

pgermond 06-07-2006 08:45 PM

Maurice,

Wherever..... or whenever? I need to get my car on the road. We've been in Oregon that last 3-weeks... missed the bash  , so I have a full tank of 70/30 and the tires are getting flat spots from sitting in the garage.

If you want to have breakfast Sat AM (8:30-9), I 'm head down to the Carmichael area to do some visiting, so if you want to meet somewhere let me know (you can fill me in on what I missed).

maurice19 06-07-2006 09:20 PM

Hi Phil,

We could meet at Bakers Square on Fair Oaks blvd and Howe ave at your pleasure.

We need to get rid of those flat spots.

Vince,
Sounds interesting. Do you go up to Placerville and over to Angel's camp?

pgermond 06-07-2006 10:05 PM

Maurice,

9'ish? See you there......

decooney 06-08-2006 07:46 AM

Don,
Any other thoughts or updates?

Most are interested in a breakfast stop and a drive afterwards, from what I've gathered so far. Vince's suggestion seems like one with some options and its a new breakfast place to explore.

Vince,
Is there plenty of room to park and Hot Rod Cafe' in Angel's camp?

vince911cobra 06-08-2006 07:47 AM

Duane

Just take the backroads all the way in. Latrobe to 49, thru Jackson, into Angels camp, stay straight and hot rod cafe on right. Basically you are half way to Yosemite. Heck, I'm open for this Sat too!

vince911cobra 06-08-2006 12:28 PM

Duane

Called Rods Grill in Angels Camp. They said they have plenty of parking including street and church parking. Amount of people is no problem, they said to call ahead and they will try to cone off parking lot. This is a neat place because everything is street and hot rod oriented

jmarsey 06-08-2006 12:34 PM

Hey Vince,

Sounds cool to me. I always wanted to check out Angel's Camp. Also Hot Rod Cafe' would probably love to have us. Let me know what you guys decide.

Talk soon, John
