According to the thread it looks like it's going to be only 8 or 9 of us. I somehow think it's more than that. I'm getting my propane heater filled up for a long wait as it's been really cold.

It will be interesting to see how many of us get numbers - 8 or 9 disclosed, or 50, as of 1/3/06. We who hope to get a number don't seem to share so well on this issue. Went in person to an, of course, undisclosed DMV 2 weeks ago, spoke with manager and regular DMV clerk. They called Sacramento, got all the phone numbers, said they'll start dialing at 8:00 am, no appointment. Will probably drive over between Christmas and New Year's just to say hello (candy, flowers, bribes - no not bribes). Cautiously optimistic.

I went to Santa Clara this year, and they did a good job, but the lady in charge was just covering for the regular office manager was out on vacation. I arrived at 7:00am and was number 3 in line. By the time they opened there were about 10 of us, and it did not matter if we had an appointment or not. They just put us all in a group and had one lady do the calling for all of us. We all got numbers no matter if we arrived at 5am, or three hours later.....

Good Luck!

Thumbs up sb 100

I would suggest you make an appointment at your local DMV office for 8am or 8:30am. Get there early bring your statemenet of Origin and checkbook. Last year the numbers were gone by 2pm if my memory serves me correctly. They need to log the numbers in a book in the Sacto HQ DMV so your counter clerk has to call Sacto HQ for each customer and this will take some time.

Dennis

Thanks for the input and I'm sure someone may have some luck getting an appointment this late but doubtful. Again guys, read this thread all the way through. DO NOT WAIT FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT TO SHOW UP, GET THEIR EARLY. THEY WILL MOST LIKELY GROUP YOU GUYS TOGETHER AND MAKE ONE PHONE CALL. If memory serves me correct, the numbers were gone by about noon. Good luck again

I got mine last year at the San Clemente DMV. I recommend getting an appointment but still get there early and wait in line. They started a second line at 8am for appointments. They were helped before everyone who was waiting in the normal line. One guys was 9:30 but it didn't matter he was still helped first. For those going to Laguna Hills don't. One guy left there after they incorrectly told him he needed to have his car with him. He came to San Clemente at around 9am and still got his number. The supervisor at San Clemente's name is Maria Garcia. She really knows the process.

Do not think there is just 8 or 9 of you...big mistake....lots of people will be there with kit cars of all kinds (not just cobras) looking for the same tag as you. Take the advise that has already been given you and camp out early. Best of luck to you all.

Check with your DMV office today to see if they will be open on the 2nd as The 2nd was declaired a National Day of Mourning for President Ford, yesterday. You may be put off until Wed. the 3rd for SB100.

Default 5:30 alarm?

If you have your alarm set for 5:30a.m., plan on not being somewhere near the front of the line. At my location last year all of the sleepyheads that showed up later on at 5:15a.m. experienced a rush of blood purging from their face to the pit of their stomach as they walked up and realized they were 11th and 12th in line already. And, in other cases, I heard some got there after 6a.m. and got numbers like it was no be deal.

Roll the dice - Good Luck!

Duane,
You're right that some guys made out like bandits. At my branch last year one guy got there well after opening but our clerk was still trying to get through on the phone by the time he got his paperwork done and joined our SB 100 group. By the time she got through to headquarters he was able to get a number along with the rest of us. I guess to him the process was no big deal. However, anyone wanting to join the group after hanging up the phone that first time, was simply SOL.

Congrats Mr. Monster! According to Yahoo weather, it's only 43 degrees in Sacramento...time to get that car out for an SB 100 celebration run!

I'm looking to be in the class of 2008...that is unless I find an SB100 car I want.
