Default Norcal/Central Valley Ride

Jamo and I were talking today about getting some members of each club together - maybe 10 total - for a ride to someplace convenient for all - and toward the Sierras - stay overnight at a Bed and Breakfast, short ride Sunday then home.

Anyone interested?

Maurice - is your car fixed?

Default I'm in; pending date(s)

Hey Pat,

Sounds like fun. If I'm not on-call that weekend, i'd be interested in going. Keep us posted as it develops. I have not been driving the Cobra lately, so it would be nice to get it out and sync up with you guys. Thanks for getting this going.

Hi Pat,

If we're in town that weekend it sounds like a good time. This time of year we're traveling quite a bit so I'll have to wait for a date to be determined before committing - but I am interested. What are you guys thinking.... Sonora area maybe?

We are pretty flexible on the date right now.

How about listing dates that you can't make?

I was thinking someplace between Fresno and here, someplace in the foothills - Murphy's?

Suggestions are welcome.

Murphys, Arnold or Markleville would be really nice this time of year.

Pat,

Rick beat me to it.... Murphy's or Arnold are both great choices. Markleville is an awesome drive in the fall (Sept/Oct). Although I don't have any ideas for accommodations. Might want to consider waiting till school gets back in session if you are contemplating a weekend.

Default Still working still drooling

I'm following all the ride posting I can't attend but am finally back on track working on the car after a month's extra delay in getting my completed engine and tranny from Pacific Performance! Much needs yet to be done, but a lot of friends also promising to lend a helping hand once I get the engine/tranny in....as an amateur I'm grateful for the potential boost SB100 has me a bit scared, but I can't control that. Hope to be riding with y'all by 2008!

Ride safely,

Dirk

Default I think late Oct would be best.

Its cooler then and the colors will be changing in that area. I am certainly in on this cruise. Let me know what I can do to help organize.

Here are some dates that might be good:

Sept 22-23
Sept 29-30
Oct 20-21
Nov 3-4

Thanks for asking,Pat

I am now waiting for a shortened input shaft with the splines also cut longer. My original shaft for the Tko 600 was shortened , but the splines were not cut longer.
That setup worked with the shorter Ram clutch combination but the splines ran out on the new taller Mcleod combination.
Everything else seems to be okay

Maurice

I'm hoping when a date is set I am not committed. There are some awesome roads around Murphy's and Arnold. This is a motorcycle site http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8015 however, these are Cobra roads as well - Hwy 4, Mosquito Lake, and Ebbitts Pass do indeed (IMO) qualify as the top of the world in California.

How about the weekend of October 26/27?

I went to Murphy's on Saturday afternoon and checked out some hotels.

Two choices:

The Murphy's Inn - A nice motel for about a hundred bucks a night that has rooms available on that week end and can accomodate 8 cars and who will set aside parking spots for us. $103/night. http://www.centralsierralodging.com/cloud9_001.htm

The Dunbar House - A really nice Bed and Breakfast that is more like $230 a night. The Dunbar House. http://www.dunbarhouse.com/html/rooms.htm

I checked for the last weekend in October (26/27?) and the Dunbar House will let us have the whole place, all 5 rooms, for $2400 for two nights (minimum)....this is a quite upscale Bed and Breakfast and includes the usual BnB amenities.....see link above.

Perhaps a combination of the two places? They are about a block and a half away from each other. The whole damned town is only about 8 blocks long.

Would anyone be interested in coming up Friday afternoon, do dinner, then the next morning drive over the mountain to Markleeville or something and then back for dinner in Murphy's - then leave for home Sunday morning after breakfast?

I am open to suggestions.....!

Pat,
I think we're in, and I could meet you guys up there for at least one night if you stay over two nights. The dunbar place looks pretty nice, but it's one night only, huh?, or maybe you could see if they would provide a group discount per unit with early/advanced reservations for a block of rooms. Is there anything to walk around and look at while we are there; water, stream, etc? Let us know. Thanks for getting this going. Duane

The whole area is rich with activities - antique stores, rivers, bars, neat restaurants, mining stuff, vineyards......

The Dunbar House is pretty popular - the only break they could offer was to rent the whole place for two nights for $2400 - 5 rooms which works out to an average per night room price of $240. One of the rooms is $165 and others are as much as $275. As I mentioned, the two hotels I think were the most acceptable are with a couple of blocks of each other.

I think for reasons of manageablity this should be no more than 10 cars -

IOW - if you would like to go, please let me know asap.

I would expect that you would make your own hotel reservations - what I have provided is just a guide.

I'm in, albeit one night (Murphy's Inn) and most likely solo. I would like to take the drive over the summit, so I'm not sure which night would be best. If the drive takes place on Saturday I would probably stay over Friday night, drive to Markleeville on Sat, and on to Myers/hwy 50 and home.

Let me know, and thanks for the event planning

Count me in!

I could do Friday and Saturday nights with my SO.

This sounds like a great drive and a relaxing event.
