You don't have to have a Cobra, you know.....

The date is the weekend of October 27/28

Here are the links to the official Hotel.....rates are around $100. It is a really quaint and historic old place.

http://www.murphyshotel.com/

reservations@murphyshotel.com

Please post here if you are going and if you are staying over Friday and Saturday or just Saturday.

I might get some shirts made.

As of 5PM 10/8/07 the Hotel has 7 rooms in the new wing still available for Friday and Saturday nights......one suite (twice the size for $10 more) is available but only for Saturday night.

I have made dinner reservations at the Hotel for Friday and Saturday nights in case they are needed.

Let me know, and thanks for the event planning
I'm assuming the drive is on Saturday, and includes Markleeville. Is anyone else from NorCal planning on going down Friday and taking the route described in the quote above and heading home on Saturday?

If I get a chance to check out my car and can figure out what weird grinding-humming sound came from my differential last weekend (for about 5 seconds after entering and exiting a turn), I hope to be there with Cobra. May just need to change diff fluid/additive. Who knows... Gotta room though. Heading up Saturday afternoon, staying, and heading back Sunday after breakfast.

Cool.

Weather permitting, the ride to Markleeville is about a 150 mile round trip so I would figure that would take about 3- 4 hours. Leaving Murphys at about 10 and returning at about 3 or 4 PM?

Well, I will be unable to attend. I have to take my son to his HS football game on Saturday. I look forward to the next opportunity.

Its been awhile since I have been able to do anything with the cobra. Was able to get off work and made reservations for two at Murphys. Looking forward to the weekend and more details!

Great!

The ride is on Saturday.

Here is a semi final itinerary:

Friday check in anytime after 3PM - dinner at 7 at the Hotel

Saturday - Breakfast at 8:30AM, ride to Markleeville at about 10AM, return at about 3PM. Dinner at 7 at the Hotel - this can be changed if desired.

Sunday - Brunch at about 9AM, everyone leaves after that.

Comments, questions?

Thanks Pat, I really need the break.
Lets hope for mild weather!

I will be leaving from the Wilton/Elk Grove area Friday afternoon for anyone that is interested in teaming up.

We spent the weekend in Dorrington and the weather was beautiful. Fall colors everywhere...I kept thinking that in the cobra this would be an amazing drive. Previous committments prevent us from going, but I hope the weather is as good the weekend you're there as it was for us.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but check on the pass before you head up the hill. The road has been closed at least twice at Lake Alpine due to snow. Weather is predicted on Friday. Have fun in Murphys. I do.

Thanks - I was wondering about that.

Plan B could be a ride down Highway 49.....unless there are other and better suggestions?
