Default Infineion Wine Country Classic May 31

Any members have an interest in the upcoming event(s) at Infineon Raceway?

I have not attended but am very interested in doing so this year.

More info contained in the link below.

Infineon Raceway will host a number of car corrals at the Wine Country Classic, including Ferrari, Mercedes, Corvette, Jaguar and Shelby Cobra, among others. The car corrals will be dotted around the raceway, so feel free to explore. Contact Marc Holmes, (707) 933-3955 or mholmes@infineonraceway.com.

I will be going up for Saturday only. It is an awesome event. You can see everything from vintage Ferrari's and Bugati's to authentic Trans Am cars from the 70's. They actually race these cars pretty hard too.

There is usually special parking through the Bay Area Shelby Club there. Last year I took the Cobra and parked along 10-15 other replicas along with GT350's and GT500's. My friend had a special parking pass for me, but he is not going this year.

I think that they were allowing all Cobras to park there, whether they had a pass or not, but I'm not certain.

Mike

That sounds like a plan Ron. Deb and I went up 2 years ago to catch this. It is a great show because you can walk the pits and talk to the owners/drivers of everything. Lots of Kodak moments. The BACC (Bay Area Cobra Club) was there when we showed. Race cars from the 1900's till today. My favorite exhaust noise was from a late 50's Masarati. I still hear it now. I think I watched several original Cobras racing on the track at the same time too. Bring ear plugs because the noise is deafening sitting in the stands! If I remember correctly it was a last minute thing for us and we just showed up and paid at the gate. Maybe we can get a group from Sac to show-John

I hope to attend this year. We are gonna have one hell of a May. The BASH and then Infenion... hope we can get some other Cobra's join us so we can add to the 'noise'

But my hope is to make whatever arrangements we can to 'guarantee' a nice parking area for us.

I read in the info that "only well maintained club cars will be allowed to park in the corral, no brand X's." I'm pretty sure that my Factory Five Racing Cobra is going to be catagorised as a "Brand X". This is ok. I parked in the regular parking last time and had a great time-John

I think most of us would be labeled as "brand X."

That is unless you have a Shelby...or maybe a Kirkham since they're now in the registry. It's all so confusing.

Last year they let all replicas park in the corral, regardless of pass or not. Hopefully it's the same this year.

Scott - I hadn't really thought about going until I saw the post today. If you go, would you take your SPF or drive in the daily driver? I was thinking about going up to the Good Guys show, but the Classic would be a lot of fun.

Hey Soctt,

Welcome back. I hope you had a great WSCB, and are ready to tell us all about it.

Yes, I am definitely going to drive up, so please keep me in mind when you talk to your friend.

Chuck

Welcome to the Wine Country Classic

The above link identifies the schedule on Sat. and Sunday. Basically, Sat are the qualifiying races 8am-5pm and from 5:30-8pm is the Sonoma Valley Vintage Race Car Festival which I think is a parade/drive through the surronding area including a stop at the Sonoma Square (sound familar?)

On Sunday June 1, from 8:30-5:00pm are the warmup groups with the racing begining at about 1pm.

I should be getting info today around 1pm from an Infineon coordinator regarding parking availability, etc. Personally, I dont think we will have a problem with our immaculately maintained Cobras. I will report back ASAP.
Ron

UPDATE:

I have made several phone calls to Infineon and have yet to make contact with those who can arrange a corral for us. I am still waiting for return calls. When I get information I will post it here. It seems worst case scenerio will be regular parking on our own.

Hey Scott,
are any of you guys by chance heading over to the vintage festival afterwards on Saturday in Sonoma Square to check it out?

I can't make it to the track on Saturday, but thinking of buzzing down for the festival in the square after 4pm or so. Looks like some of us may be heading over there for a few hours to check it out and eat dinner. Some familiar faces. If so, maybe we can chat a bit about the CH1 sea level thing if more details come together this week. DC
