Default ERA 427 Hood Dimensions

Is there an ERA with a 427FE block somewhere in the Lodi/Sacramento/Walnut Creek CA area that I could visit to take some hood clearance dimensions and valve cover dimensions to complete design of a fabricated cross ram intake manifold?

My ERA is on order for delivery sometime mid 2009, and all I can do in the meantime is work on the engine specification.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I know of one with a 427 located in Folsom. I'm pretty sure he will check in and contact you. If not, try sending him an e-mail or PM. User name - decooney (as in Duane of WSCB fame).

Dennis,
send me a PM to get specifics... You are welcome to stop by and take a look. Maybe with some foam and clay, we might be able to get some rough measurements with the hood down. With the motor/intake/turkey pan installed on my car, there is not a lot of room to see or measure otherwise with the hood closed, but with it open you can improvise to get it pretty close. Also, the motor does not sit dead center in a Big Block ERA either. It's over to the driver side a tad for balance, and quiet possibly one side of your X-ram may touch sooner than the other depending how high and where it sticks up. It would be nice to have a scrap cutaway hood from ERA as another option to get down to the fine details, or go for the custom raised hood bulge look. It's been done before with an ERA. Let me know if I can assist in some way.

Phil,
showing up in the morning at Mels?
