Default MSD 6AL-2 Shipping Now.

I just got my MSD 6AL-2 (REALLY NEAT BOX) it is a smaller form factor than the regular MSD, 6AL but slightly wider.

The main cool part is NO MORE ^$&@*&$ REV LIMITER CHIPS. it has a 2 stage rev limiter set by rotating adjustable screw switch(es) on the side of the unit.

You can set the Main (MAX) limit say at 6250 and also have a secondary limit for your Line lock, (feed 12V to a wire on the box) and then a second (IE lower) rev limit is enabled.

The other use for this feature would be a ; valet/loaner/brother-in-law switch.

Say you rig a switched (ign. on only ) 12V supply to a N.O. (normally open) secret (hidden) switch , ----then if your car is going to be in the hands of someone you are not 110% sure of, you can enable this 'secret switch' and they are held to the 'activated' rev limit, say 5250.

I know that 5250 can still do damage in the hands of the wrong person, but at least you preserve your valvetrain and crank against un-authorized over-reving.

Then your friend says, wow ...huh...it wont rev past 5500 what's wrong>?, and you say, huh-yeah...I gotta look at that.

I will bring one with me to the VMOA show.,

Just me thinking out loud....

Steve

Cool. I had put their adjustable rev limiter in the back of my glove box. That added about $50 to the cost of the 6AL. A two stepper would be nice, tho.

If I was to lend out my Cobra, the "valet/loaner/brother-in-law switch" would be set at 1800 RPM.
