Default Hey there!

Hi All,

DURING THE HOT MONTHS of THE YEAR, FOR THOSE WHO DRIVE

A few folks have asked me from time to time (and again recently) when it gets hot each year, "why can't we do the drives very early in the morning first when there is nobody on the road and its cool, then stop for breakfast after".

The idea is if we could find a coffee spot, say meet there at 7:30, start the drive at 07:45a.m., and stop back at our resting place at 10:00 a.m., we'd have a great breakfast and who cares how long it takes to get the food!

I agree, driving in the extreme heat is terrible vs. the crisp-cool-early morning air with no traffic is the best time to drive in the summer. Then, after breakfast is over, head back home and take a nap after. This leaves the rest of the day to still do whatever you want. Clean the car up the night before, fill it with fuel, and be retz-to-go! That's the theme. For those who just like to meet and greet, this might not work out as well, or they could just meet us after the drive at 10 for breafkast and both groups win - drivers and non-drivers! Hahahahah.

What about you guys, I could motivate myself to get up early with others who enjoy driving that much.

That works for me Duane. I did just that this past Sunday. Went out at 7:30, drove out on 49 towards Auburn, and back down Folsom-Auburn Rd. It was perfect. Quiet and great weather.
Where should we meet for coffee? Maybe Peet's on Douglas Blvd in Granite Bay. I'm open. Any other suggestions?

Hey Danny, Gary,

I'll check my car out tommorow, and if it's good to go, I will join in. If I'm reading it correctly, and pulling it together so far...

Drive:
Saturday Morning May 23rd,
Meet at Peets on Douglas, in Roseville,
Arrive by no later than 07:30,
Leave at 7:45 sharp for Drive.
Maybe do Auburn-Folsom, Ravine, back to Folsom.
Come back down Highway 50 towards El Dorado Hills/Folsom.

Breakfast, after Drive:
Edit: Ernies at Folsom around 10 or so.

Works for me. The Peet's in Granite Bay right, not Roseville. Just so we don't get mixed up. El Dorado Hills really doesn't have a good breakfast place. Wanna just do Mel's in Folsom after the drive?

Uwe, I'll give you a buzz when we head back down from the drive and let you know where breakfast will be. I know you need your beauty sleep.

Randy, let me know if you want to meet at Safeway's on Green Valley Rd. Then we can head over to Peet's. Say 7:15.

Default Another place to try and eat

Danny, Gary, Maurice, Chris, Uwe & All,

How about this. I have a breakfast place for us, and it's at our very first NorCal Cobras meeting location over 8 years ago, now called Ernies in Folsom, or some call it Ernies at Tahoe, in Folsom. The new owner/company has called me in the past about getting us there again. Its in the older and original Raley's shopping center, more center to town. In the future if we get a big enough group, we can reserve the larger private room. This weekend it would be open seating. The motorcycle club and a few hot rod clubs meet there and it was voted best breakfast in Folsom in 2007/2008 i believe. And, there is Parking across the way. Some folks may remember it when they get there.

After Drive, around 10:00a.m. meet at:
Ernie's of Folsom
707 E. Bidwell Street
Folsom, California
Telephone: (916) 984-8333
Website: http://www.ErniesCoffeeShop.com/

If you guys are okay with this for something different, we can recap it all below. Your thoughts? Sound good?

Duane,

That sounds good. Actually, we went there for breakfast last year before we headed down to CH1. Good choice.

Chris,

It's in that new upscale strip mall on Douglas about a 1/2 mile west of Folsom Auburn Bl. If your coming from Roseville, driving east on Douglas, it'll be on your right hand side.

IF YOU HAVE NOT REPLIED YET AND WANT TO JOIN BREAKFAST, please call Ernies and let them know you'll be joining the group so they can try to save some booths and tables for us near each other.

Looks like we have 6 cars already for the drive and breakfast. They have 10 spots on the list now. I called in and let them know others may be joining, so please call them in advance if you plan to drop in and eat.

Rebecca is who you need to ask for or have them relay the message to. Thanks.

I probably will not make the drive, but breakfast is doable.
See you in the morning.

That was a great ride for those of you that missed it, Jim. Doing the ride first thing in the morning and then breadkfast was an excellent idea. Kudos to Duane. Let's do "Don's Run" again next month or whenever. It was an 85 mile jaunt. Just right.
Thanks again guys.
Gary
