CH1 / Friday caravanning from NorCal-Sacto
FRIDAY DEPARTURES ONLY-
I'm posting this for others who are trying to sync up and caravan from NorCal and surrounding Sacramento metropolitan areas down to WSCG / Cobras On Highway1 (CH1) this week. This for the Sacramento Meetup/Departure on Friday 09/25/09:
09:30am group departing Town Center in El Dorado Hills / Starbucks
10:00am group departing from Brookfields in Rancho Cordova off Sunrise/Hwy50.
Note:
At 12:00 Noon on Friday, the group will be at Crab Landing in Half Moon Bay, right off of Highway1. For those driving down on Friday coming down on Hwy1, meet us there for lunch/show and drive back with us to the Seascape after lunch if you want.
To: Dan L, Kurt/Karen, Uwe/Karen...
Reply here to confirm for others if you are planning to leave from somewhere in Sacto on Friday (time/place?) and heading down Hwy1 on the scenic route stopping in Half Moon Bay at 12:00 Noon for lunch. We'll see you at Crab Landing on Friday. DC

Duane,
We probably won't make the Half Moon Bay lunch. We plan on stopping somewhere outside the city for Japanese, then make some stops here and there for pic's. And then kind of wiggle our way down to Seascape.

Heat Wave!
Hey Danny,
You guys might hit a little cooler weather (and make lunch in Half Moon Bay too) on the way down Friday morning if all the sleepy heads could get out of bed a little earlier than departing at 10a.m..! . For some reason I thought the Eldo group learned a lesson last year after picking the hottest hours of the day to travel down and back... Remember that? I still hear stories from Dan about how bad that sucked... Just a thought... someone might want to remind the same group again if they forgot. Remember, we have a heat wave this week, and what a better reason to get to the coast earlier than later in the day, and returning later in the day on Sunday too - Ask Dan L. Rest when you get there, with sea breeze instead of dry Sacramento air..... Ahhhhhhhhh

Good point Duane -
I may leave right after the traffic eases - I will be heading down 99 to 4 to 5 to 152....maybe around 830.

Noelle and I will be leaving from El Dorado Hills at about 9:00am, and making a beeline for the cool air at the coast.
Sounds like the route is 80 to 37, and taking the the road past Sears Point out to HW101. That would take us down 101 south over the bridge to HW1 through the city and down the coast to Half Moon Bay.
The shorter route would be 80 all the way to 101, and then 280 across to HW1, but either way is fine with me.

Nice!
Jeff, going 80>37>101 to Hwy1 is not bad as long as you avoid morning and lunch hour traffic. If you leave at 9, that will be perfect. Maybe touch base with Dan L, he's working hard to pull last details together. We are hopeful he comes down Thursday or early with you Friday to make the lunch at HMB/Crab Landing. You are smart for leaving at 9 instead, you'll make it no problem - nice and easy cruise all the way in cool weather. . DC

As of Tuesday morning at 12:30am...., I've been watching the weather/temps the last day solid regarding NorCal travel and what it will be like weather wise at CH1 for Thursday and Friday incoming travelers.
Departing Travel from Sacto/NorCal:
-8am, perfect!
-9am, should be nice and tolerable.
-10am, getting warmer but not hot yet.
-12pm/Noon - good luck.
Recommendation: Be on Hwy80 driving by no later than 10am sharp
At Aptos:
Low to High 70s days. Cooler nights.
Hwy1 Drives:
Low to mid 70s days. Cooler nights.
At Laguna on Saturday:
Sunny. Highs in Mid 80s, to Low 90s in late afternoon.
It will be nice at the Scape!

Question to Bay area and Sacramento cobra guys. Does anyone know the name of the guy that has the yellow with white stripe cobra that was in Tahoe for the STTL run a few weeks ago?
