Looking for a Tranny Shop Recommendation in NorCal

Hello Everyone,

Its my first post here and I was hoping you all could suggest a reputable transmission shop to help with a TKO600 that is stuck in 5th gear.

I have read up on the fix for the problem and from what I have been able to gather its not that difficult. However, I do not have the facilities at home to access the tranny myself. I am hoping to find a shop that will be reasonable, knows how to do the job correctly (i.e experience with TKO600's).

I am located in Sonoma, but will be willing to take the car just about anywhere in the Bay Area to deal with the right shop.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

Dr. E,

We can help. We have great experience in treating tremec troubles.

Can you fill us in on the situation that lead into being "stuck"

Have you tried anything to get it un stuck ?

Steve

Thanks Steve,

Typical Sunday drive around Sonoma. Properly warmed up. I did a quick 3rd gear blast to about 5,500 and went for 4th and it ground a bit and wouldn't go into gear. I pushed in the clutch and slowed to stop. Started off again and very lightly shifted up 1st through 5th, everything was fine. I pulled up to a light and started the normal downshift routine and it would not come out of 5th gear.

I had a friend with me, so we shut it off and tried rocking the car back and forth in gear with one of us pulling on the lever to get it out. It would not budge. I could feel movement inside the tranny against the lever when we were rocking the car. We tried again to pull really hard on the lever to get it out of 5th with no luck. I was close to home and it has monstrous TQ, so I was able to limp home and put it in my garage.

Any thoughts? Additional info needed?

Thank you,

- E
