Corner Scales
Well the Christmas gifts for the Cobra this year are new rear shock mounts, shocks and springs.
Does anyone know where you can rent scales so you can set the car up? Really hate to have to buy a set when I won't need them very often.

Have you thought about finding a place that does professional corner balancing, alignment and chassis set-up? I haven't had it done to mine (I'd like to when I get some new tires), but I've heard from other that there's noticeable improvement in handling.

I was hoping to find some scales so I could get the car balanced and then when the weather turns nice, I will have it aligned.

Got it. Racers usually have scales, so hopefully someone can hook you up.

I really think my car is due for a professional chassis setup and alignment. Planning on a 2500 mile road trip next summer and new tires are in order before the trip, so a chassis grooming would be appropriate. I've never had the car aligned since it was new 7 years and 20k miles ago even though my tires have always worn evenly. Any ideas what I can expect to pay for a 4 wheel alignment and corner scaling?

My new 3rd Edition SPF owner's manual suggests counting the exposed threads on each coil adjustment to get a start on a corner balance. It seems that would work if the coil springs are exactly the same strength and measurements, as they should be. No question, it would be better to weigh each wheel and do the calcs to check the balance.

Take it to a race shop that sets up circle track or road course cars and pay them to set the corner weights , cross weights , ride height and do the alignment . Just had that done on my ERA and it handles like it is on rails . FYI ... crossweight is 50.3% both sides and wheel weights within 30 # . Make sure they set the alignment and other adjustments with either you in the car or an equal weight set in the driver`s seat . Also , my rear weight is 52.5% vs 47.5% front with half tank of gas . Cross weight % is very important to a cars handling .
