Arrow Collector plates. Should I get some?

So my tabs need to be renewed and I'm wondering if I should get collector plates? I've read that there are some strong restrictions limiting the amount and type of driving I could do if I had them. I do like to drive to work when its nice.

Does anyone (all you LEO's out there) have any experience with collector plates that could shed some light on them for me?

Thanks

I have collector plates now and had them in Texas, rules are about the same, you can drive the car as much as you want (no milage restrictions) but is limited to public events, car club events (social days, track days, etc), service events (gas station, mechcanical service). I pretty much fall into those events, except when I go out for a Sunday drive and then I try to find another cobra and call this a club day. What they want to enforce is NO DAILY driving.

Carmen, UrQ is correct in what he said. If it is the occasional drive to work I do not think you will have any issues. Where it becomes a problem is when you see the same car every morning or evening going to or from work with a collector plate. That may get someones attention and you may get cited. I like the guys that put the CV plate on there POS $400 car and then use it as a daily driver so they never have to buy tabs. I can assure you that if my car was registered as a 1965 replica I would have a CV plate. The other bonus is it is the only way to legally run no front plate!

You could also get a vintage plate ( green white ) with the correct year tab that your car is titled as (64,65,66,?). I have bought many plates from this guy, Brice Moody 360-533-0280 . SPF# 2773 Jerry

They look much better than CV plates and you can find them on E-Bay all time.

Had a former cop (and car guy) tell me this scenario is so far below their radar of it'd never happen unless the guy is having really bad day, or a complete a$$.

Even then, it isn't on their list of Really Important Things to worry about....

Unless you got pulled over for something else. Then you might also get a ticket for driving during the week with collectors plates. I have the same issue in DC, but I basically ignore it. I will reevaluate if its a problem, but can live with a ticket or two a year if it ever came to that.
