Sorry Andy, too long of a cruise for me. I have to be back home before 3:00 due to prior commitments. I may go on a shorter, solo cruise if the weather holds.

Long as you don't mind a Pantera tagging along, I'm itching for a drive and meeting some new folks Saturday, only day weather looks good. I've been looking for an excuse to go up to Port Townsend Brewing sometime, but even a shorter drive would be fun. I'm in West Seattle, so would meet off the Fauntleroy Ferry.

Well here is my sad tale.
Took the car out yesterday to tryout the new/modified video camera mount. That was a success.
When I pulled off of hwy 18, I noticed that the passenger side exhaust sounded a little funny. I figured it was probably an exhaust gasket. Got home and let it idle in the driveway and went around to listen to it. Nope, not an exhaust gasket.
Opened the hood and I could then hear a lifter ticking. Damn, not what I needed, but then not the end of the world either.
Pulled it in the garage and after it cooled down a little, I pulled the valve cover on that side. It's got the Ford SVO roller rockers and one of the adjustment set screws was laying loose in the head. Thank god it did not go down an oil return galley. I then noticed that four other rockers were loose. It's got a Crane came with hydraulic roller tappets. Okay, so I have to go back and reset all the valves.
Got off of work today and came home to get it done. Started with the intake on cylinder number 4. Got it done and then went to the exhaust. The head of the adjustment nut snapped off.
So, to wrap this up, I have new roller rockers and ARP studs on order. Should be here on Monday. Really glad this did not happen when we were on vacation, and I'm hoping this will be the end of the problems.
Hope the weather is nice for you tomorrow and you have a nice ride.

John,
I'm glad it was nothing serious. What kind of roller rockers do you have? I've had no problems with my Crane's but I bought some Pro-Comp's for a Corvette and they lasted 100 miles before 2 fell apart. I wouldn't use a Pro-Comp product if it was free. They're nothing but Chinese junk.
Andy,
If you want to shorten up the cruise tomorrow, I'm in. Maybe a short cruise for lunch somewhere? Not the place in Belfair where Steve B., Ray and myself stopped last year. I still have bad dreams about that place. Do you remember Ray? I think we were the only ones with a full set of teeth.

They were the Ford SVO rocker arms.

Well,
It looks like a go for Sat mourning. I talk to Jim D. and Jim is going. Lebeter, take a left at the top of the southworth dock follow sedgewick rd to sr 16 go south on 16 to the next exit and get off go under sr16 to the east park and ride on east side. 10am. If that doesn"t fit the ferry times we well wait. Jim has to be back at 3pm. The others can go around Hoods Canal coming back if you want. Lebeter call if you run late or are not going cell 360 731 2258. We love to have you along, I went to Sealth high school class of 62. PT would also work.
Jim Hall sorry about your deal. Bob I well call you in the mouring and let you know the route.
Andy

10AM at the Mullenex park & ride on HWY 16. Don't miss the one and only opportunity for a cruise on the one and only NICE Sat. so far this year.

Ferry leaves at 9:15, not sure if the ferry docks at vashon first, but I'm guessing its about a 30-45 minute trip from past experience. So I may be cutting it close going from southworth to the meetup point, but I will plan to meet you guys there and call if ferry is running late.

Definitely a great time, was great to hang out with other gear heads. I'll keep a look out for more Alaskan Fighting Fishing Women Andy haha. I'll have to remember next time that they won't let me push my car onto the ferry in Southworth, I had a running start, I dunno what the big deal was
I will photoshop a couple of the better photos from my crappy smartphone camera and post them here in a few hours.

that was a great Cobra day for sure-although it sounds like I missed a good potential 1 round fight in P.T.-and a good photo opportunity-I had the public relations part in this run telling everyone 'no-it's not real' and yes, it does run! Great meeting Chris too. many more of these days to come now-thanks guys

Nice pics! It was a great day for Cobras in the NW! Say, I see a license plate on the front. Will I eventually be asked to put a plate up front? I have it nicely stored out of sight behind the passenger's seat.

Hey Chris-I got the 2 shots I took in Brinnon and they are in photobucket and I can not get em to post here-if you send me your e mail I can send em to you and then you could put them on here maybe-maybe not? I'm at bobcat98058@yahoo.com thanks man---oh yea I'm not running a front plate, do carry it in the trunk-if I get popped then I'll probably go with a fold away front plate like the street rods use.

Bob, of course, yeah send them to me at lebeter@gmail.com and I will resize them and host them on my site, then post them up. I was going to ask you guys about the front plate deal, some cars are exempt in washington state, not sure if the Cobra falls under that, there was a list posted in some thread on another forum somewhere on the net. The foldaway is a good idea though if you guys need to have it.

If you have "collector vehicle plates" or "restored plates" (both require the car to be 30 years or more old), you don't need to have a front plate. All others are subject to a $124 ticket.

But they are so impressed with the Cobra you get off with a warning... At least that's my plan....
