Thumbs up PGP lap attack fall-winter series starting oct. 10

Found this in my inbox today - too bad my car is in pieces:

Quote:
PUT DOWN FAST LAPS IN YOUR CAR AT PGP WITH LAP ATTACK FALL-WINTER SERIES STARTING OCT. 10

You may not realize it, but there's a race car in your garage. It may not have a number on the door or racing stripes, but your car -- whatever the make, model or year -- wants to be driven hard into a turn and fast down a straight toward the checkered flag.

And you can -- without spending a ton of money to modify your daily drive -- in the six-round Lap Attack Fall-Winter Series on one Sunday each month beginning Oct. 10 at PGP Motorsports Park.

It takes a lot more than a heavy foot or a big motor to drive a car fast around PGP. Being smooth with the wheel, finding the right line and braking points, and knowing the limits of your vehicle are critical ingredients to turning a fast lap time at the premier multi-purpose motorsports facility in the Pacific Northwest.

Drivers in three categories, front-wheel Drive (FWD), rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD), will compete to turn the quickest times around PGP's 14-turn .82-mile asphalt track. Drivers must possess a valid driver's license and tires must be DOT legal.

Practice starts at 9 a.m. The cost is $85 per entry and $10 per pit pass. No passengers allowed.

Competitive sessions during each round will be four laps each, with drivers turning one out-lap to warm their tires before three hot laps. The best lap time for each session will be combined with the lowest overall total in each class winning that round. The top three drivers in each class will be awarded trophies at the end of each round.

Lap Attack -- like all racing at PGP -- is rain or shine. A substantial amount of time and money was spent during the construction of PGP to mitigate all water issues. More than two miles of drain pipe sits under the specifically formulated asphalt that includes additional polymers and hardeners that increase the traction in the wet. This means you can expect great racing rain or shine year round.

Pre-registration for PGP's Lap Attack Fall-Winter Series is strongly recommended. To register and for more information, visit www.pacificgp.com.
Maybe I'll be able to get out there after paint. But you guys should check it out!

Joe

Hmmm. Interesting, wish I was in the area this season. I really would like to take a driving/training course in the area.

I am interested but only on a dry track. My car is afraid of the rain.

I read some where that the surface was something special that allows water to flow through for better traction in the rain. Has anyone been on the track in the rain?
