I am also sorry that you can not make it Jeff. The wife and I had a great time talking with you and Diana at the Run to the Sun a couple years ago. Maybe we can meet up on another run this summer.

I almost had it rescheduled! Now the reception is at my house, oh well! I was really looking forward to seeing the group, heading down 101, the smell of the trees ocean and un burned fuel making the thumping noise and passing Mike Roush at 6k. Best to you all and enjoy.

We will enjoy ourselves! Do you want us to bring you back a bottle full of ocean scented air tainted with hydrocarbon?

Be sure and tell the bride and groom, "if they ever get a divorce you will burn their house down".

Well Jake, I have to bail out also.

Went in for a needle biopsy on a lump in my neck on Tuesday and got the results today. Not cancer, but still needs to be removed as soon as I can get in, as it does cause some issues.

Since I already have a bunch of money tied up in our Lake Tahoe vacation, I cannot cancel it, but I will be having surgery as soon as we return.

Hope everyone has a great time and take plenty of pictures.

Good luck on your surgery John. If you need anything (like someone to exercise your Cobra) just ask.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the warm reception. I just booked the hotels. I am really looking forward to this drive. Will there be some mechanics coming? Not to jinks anything, but these are old muscle cars.

I also wanted to ask, for those who have taken long journeys previously in their Cobra, how do they perform? Comfort? I changed the drag race seats out to some comfortable proper racing seats.

My car is really loud and I am thinking my eardrums may be bleeding after a few hours. Do some of you guys have headsets?

Thanks,

Jacob

Jacob,
The wife and I just bought a set of JVC noise cancelling headphones for her. We tried them out last weekend. Gay said they work great.

Last year I took the month of July off on vacation. We went from the Seattle area to Lake Tahoe, and from there headed over to Carmel. Then drove up the coast until we got to Brookings Oregon. Finally got tired of the fog and clouds and headed inland. Only one issue with the car during the entire trip, and that was easily fixed.

Personally I find the seats in my SPF very comfortable for long trips.

In regard to noise, I'm going deaf anyways so it does not affect me. My wife however always wears ear plugs.

Thanks for the info John. I found these and am seriously thinking about getting a set:

GTS RACING SCANNER HEADSET RADIO ELECTRONICS HEADPHONE | eBay

or

Racing Electronics - #1 Source For Professional Race Communications - Online Store

Does anyone have any experience with these types of headsets? Thanks,

Jacob

Jacob,
Small inexpensive ear ear plugs work well or snug fitting ear buds work well so you can listen to some music. I would think the big headsets would have two issues. Technically you are not supposed to block your hearing with anything and those would draw lots of attention. It is very important to still have hearing so you can hear emergency equipment so you don't get taken out in an intersection by someone making a priority run. I have been approaching an intersection on a green light and had ear plugs in while driving the Cobra and I could hear the sirens just fine. I was able to stop and let the vehicle pass and avoid a collision. In that situation, by the time I would have seen the emergency vehicle it would have been to late. So what ever you decide make sure you can still hear.

Jake

Jacob:
47K in seven seasons for my Cobra with standard ERA seats and it's never let me down. Have made 7 or 8 trips of 12 to 15 hundred miles and been perfectly comfortable.
If I'm going to spend any significant time on freeways (over 100 miles) I wear custom fit ear plugs (internet about $15.00) but for wind buffeting not noise.
Look forward to seeing the coupe.
