Ventureshield
Got a case of road rash on the lower rear quarter panels after only about 20 minutes on I-5. Not a good sign.
Checked with Park Place Motors for recommendaitions (other than staying off the freeway) They are peddling Ventureshield.
It's being touted by Park Place Motors as a good way of protecting the paint from road rash. The brochure states that it's a clear acrylic film that is applied directly to the body. Cost is approx $1000.
I've never heard of this approach.
Anyone have any experience with this stuff?

I have it on my full nose, rear spats and under rear fenders. 4,000 miles and no problems. The stuff works great for me...
Think the full install was somewhere around 625.00
I would look around, but then I bought my car from Park Place...

I have venture shield from ParkPlace on SPF2743 and like it. I convinced them to instal it on another car first, liked it and purchased it. No problems and a good product. If you want to see it on my car, send me a personal message. I'm in Sammamish.

....thx, looks like two thumbs up so far. They are quoting $995 now for the application. I bought my car at PP and when the keys were handed over, I got the pitch, thought it was the usual come-on to buy more stuff.
But, apparently it works. From the discussion here, it looks like not the whole car is done but just certain sections. I'll check further tomorrow and see what gives and see if they'll negotiate on price..

Very pleased with my 3M paint protection material. After 40+ thousand miles it has held up extremely well and done a great job of reducing the effect of road dings.
The "kits" usually wrap the nose section of the car back about 6 or 8 inches and include "spats" to cover the front of the rear fenders just behind the door which is a very vulnerable area.
The price you mentioned is high but not completely out of line. A little shopping around may provide some cost savings. Check with Porsche, BMW and Corvette dealers and find out where they get theirs done. A very common addition to those cars.

.....yeah, I'm checking that option out also. Contacted the Ford/Chevy/Honda/Porche Dealers in Bham and they haven heard of the Ventureshield, but sell a clear bra equivalent marketed as the '3M Protection Package'. This is all subed out to one or two guys in Bellevue, WA. Waiting for pricing info and what the pkg would consist of..

At the time I bought Venture Shield a few years ago, I heard a rumor that 3M was going to buy them. Apparently they have. Check VentureShield™ 3M US

...Looks like they are one and the same. Some interesting videos on the link you posted. I have a lead on an installer, will post later with pricing if anyone else is interested in the product..

The installer wanted $1000-1700 for spats, full nose and fenders. Honda in Bham wanted much less. So, trying to eliminate the middle man and go directly to the installer doesnt work.
So, at these rates, comparatively speaking, the Park Place estimate of $995 seems like a deal..
