2013 NW Club Cobra Annual Cruise to Florence
It’s that time of year for another NW Club Cobra Cruise. We’re having our 3rd annual 2013 Washington/Oregon Coastal Cruise. Please see the following for all the details:
When: August 2-4, 2013
Where: Starting in Lakewood, WA - at the Park & Ride off SR512 and I-5, ending in Florence, Oregon.
What: This will be 3 days of exciting Cobra adventure! We’ll be departing the Park & Ride on Friday, Aug. 2nd at 8:00 AM. We’ll head south towards Montesano and then down to Astoria, Oregon. We will then continue to Seaside, Oregon where we’ll stay at the Shilo Oceanfront Inn. We should arrive in Seaside around lunch time. We’ll then have time to enjoy all that Seaside has to offer.
Saturday, August 3rd we’ll leave Seaside at 9:00 AM as a group and head South on the Coast Hwy 101 to Tillamook where we will stop for a tour of the Tillamook Dairy & sample some world-class fresh cheese, ice cream, jerky, and browse the gift shop. Once back on the road, we'll travel to Florence, Oregon, which is the final southern destination. Our accommodations are at the Three Rivers Hotel and Casino. There will be plenty of time to explore old town Florence and take in all the local attractions. Plan on a group dinner at the Three Rivers.
Sun August 4th we’ll leave Florence at 8:30 AM and head back up Hwy 101 to Waldport, Oregon. From Waldport we’ll take Hwy 34 towards Corvallis, Oregon. From Corvallis we head towards I5 and then north towards home. Somewhere along here we can stop for lunch.
Here is a Google Map of our planned route: http://goo.gl/maps/313cr.
I have reserved a block of 15 rooms for Seaside and Florence. I recommend making reservations early for the best room selections. I did secure better room rates based on the group rates. The rooms at both locations will be held under "NW Cobra Club." You need to tell them you are in that group to get the special price.
The contact number for the Seaside Shilo Oceanfront Hotel is 503-738-9571.
The Shilo has a covered parking garage and we have reserved parking for our group.
Room rates at the Shilo are $129 City View, $169 Partial Ocean View, and $229 full Ocean View.
The contact number for the Three Rivers Hotel is 877-3-RIVERS (877-374-8377).
The Three Rivers has also reserved a special parking area for our group, however the parking is not covered. I recommend a car cover in case it is misty.
Room rates at the Three Rivers are $130 for rooms with one king or two queens.
If you have never driven 101 in a Cobra you are missing out! The cruise has great scenery and great roads for Cobras. Many NW Club Cobra roadsters have run this route each of the last several years. Looking back at the past years, I know everyone will have a great time. It is hard to beat the views and twisty roads that we will be driving. Also, as in the past, there will be lots of pictures that will be shared for you to enjoy and remember the trip.
Please post if you will be joining us on the trip.
Thanks,
Bruce

Bummer. Last year the Cobra ate a camshaft exhaust lobe and I came home in the rain from Seaside early. Now after complete rebuild, we are already triple booked for this weekend in August. My co-workers wedding on the 2nd, and on the 3rd my family's summer reunion, then leaving to SoCali for vacation. Soo, not making this one happen this year.
Have a blast, I'm sure we'll see you all somewhere along the way during the events this summer,
BC Kev and Di

Kev,
Have fun in SoCal. Jake, I and maybe a couple others are planning to stop by the Exotics at Renton Town Center this Saturday morning. Stop by if you get a chance. I'm also joining the Oregon crew for their cruise from Portland to Crescent City CA on July 19-21. That should be a lot of fun.

Saturday we will be stopping at the Newport Café for lunch. Matt Browne has made arrangements.
Newport Café Great Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner in Newport Oregon (541)574-6847
"Newport Cafe is happy to have us all back again. I was asked to try to let them know a head count about a week before so they can be prepared. Good food and good times. They were also going to try to get us some parking up front for some photos."

Reservation have been made. Will join up with the group in Seaside. This is a great trip along the Oregon Coast. The lodging, meals, roads and people make this one of my favorite drives of the summer. Planning on paying for the trip with all my winnings in Florence. Hopefully it works out as planned.

I would love to join you if I am back and still alive from the Superfest run to Colorado and back. Anyone want to head on down to Bandon Dunes for a round of golf? I'm not sure how we will get the clubs in the Cobra. It adds 137 miles to the trip so it must be just 68 miles south of Florence. Who might be interested in joining a foursome on Monday (Aug 5)? I'll look into tee times if there is interest. It avoids the traffic issue on the way home Sunday afternoon. Wonder what it costs to ship golf clubs??

Hope you can make it Ward. This cruise is always a lot of fun. Enjoy your Colorado trip. Also, Cascade Cobras is heading to Bandon on 19-21 July. I've signed up for that cruise also.

If you plan to go on the cruise I recommend you make reservations soon. The Shilo will release the block of rooms on July 2.

I just made room reservations tonight and will plan to play golf on Sunday. I won't be joining the group going home. Unfortunately, as of right now, my wife will not be joining me. Bummer! The 3-Rivers Casino was full and I asked about the block of rooms for the Cobra Club and that got me a room!

Things got complicated and I had to cancel out. I thought I could make up some of my lost opportunity to go to Colorado by going to Oregon.

Can't make it. Grandson's Little League team won the Washington State Championship and is playing in the Northwest Regionals in San Bernardino.
We ride ATV's in Florence and Reedsport. I drive a Honda TRX400 and my wife has a Polaris RZR 4 seater. There are sand buggy rentals and rides in Florence.

This Friday we depart on our Annual Florence, OR cruise. We'll be leaving from the McDonald's at the Park and Ride at Hwy 512 and I5 at 8am. The address and route are in the first post in this thread.
We'll stop in Montesano for a quick break and fuel if needed. We'll stop again at the rest stop just prior to crossing the Columbia River into Astoria and on into Seaside for the night. The second day we’ll take a cheese and ice cream break at the Tillamook Cheese Factory then on to Newport for lunch at the Newport Café. Then it’s on to Florence for the second night.
Sunday we’ll leave around 8:30-9:00 and head toward Waldport were we’ll stop for a quick break and fuel. Then we head inland on Hwy 34 toward Corvallis. We’ll stop in Philomath for fuel. I haven’t made any plans for lunch on the way home. There’s a great sub-shop in Corvallis that Chris (Cascade Cobras) introduced us to. Its fast, has plenty of parking, and good food. If anybody has any preferences for lunch we can do that. Then it’s back to I5 and home via I205. Because the traffic gets so backed up around Centralia and Chehalis I thought we’d take the Jackson Hwy (exit 57) to Hwy 507 to Hwy 512 to I5 ( http://goo.gl/maps/CcJ7C). My cell is 253-906-4391.
I’m looking forward to seeing everybody Friday morning for another great and fun cruise.

I'll be leaving from B'ham around 5:15 AM and will plan to meet you at the park and ride at 8AM Friday. Wifey won't make the trip so I'll be keeping my golf clubs in the passenger seat and have a 10:30 tee time at Bandon Dunes on Sunday. My cell is 360-739-6803 but can't really hear anything when I'm on freeway! I'll call if I'm late. Isn't there a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts place near there? How many are going? Thanks for setting this up!

Ward,
There will be 5 Cobra's leaving the park and ride. Yes, there is a Krispy Kreme at the Tacoma Mall. You can see it from the freeway. Your best bet is to exit on 38th Street and get on Tacoma Mall Blvd. Thanks for your cell number. If you'll be a little late give me a call and we'll wait.
See you Friday.
