The group rate will expire on the Seaside Shilo on May 15th. So if you are on planning on going and have not booked a room you better hurry!

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the warm re-welcome. My brother and I are planning on joining you guys just for the Friday. We have plans with the wives and kids the rest of the weekend. The timing is perfect for this event. I was a blast a few years ago.
It would be great to incorporate some of the great driving roads that other suggested. I saw some good potentials on the sister site, ffcars. We are looking forward to good weather and great company. We booked our room already. Thanks again everyone.
Jacob

Here's a couple suggestions for the return trip from our Cascade Cobra friends (posted on FFCars) for those of us not continuing on to Florence.
Hi Bruce,
A nefty 'lil run for you guys our club has done before is to head south 25 mi.ish from Seaside(hwy101) to Nehalem, Ore, & take Hwy 53 back North(25mi.ish) to Hwy 26 turn left(5mi.ish) & eat @ Camp 18(great food) about 18miles inland from Seaside. Hwy 53 very, very cury & a couple of low dips(ask Dave about his GT40) but fun to drive.Just saying--
Butch
Bruce:
Another option would be to back-track to Astoria and come back down Hwy 30. I like it better than 26 but I don't have any recommendations for restaurants. Coming into Rainier from the north on 30 provides a spectacular view of the bridge and you can hop over to Longview/Kelso and pick up I5. Cuts out some of the boredom on the south end of 5.

Jake et al,
Here's a thought for those returning to Washington on Saturday.
Head to Camp 18 on Hwy 26 for lunch. Then home via OR103 to Hwy 202 to OR47 to Hwy 30 to I5 to home.

Camp 18 Restaurant - Dining, Event Room, Conference Rooms in Elsie, Oregon 97138
I'm awaiting word from the Cascade Cobra crew on their thoughts of this route.

DonC comments on FFCars:
Bruce:
103 to Jewel, (Jewel is pretty much just a wide spot in the road) 202 and then 47 on to 30 is a doable route. Haven't driven 47 to Clatskanie but have driven the southern part of it from Scapoose through Vernonia and out to 26. One of our preferred short hops for lunch runs. Scenery is pretty consistent with driving through forests, lots of trees. Road should be o.k. for paving. Haven't been over the northern part of it this season but the southern part was fine.
Turning south at Clatskanie will give you access to the bridge at Longview per my previous post and cut out having to drive through Portland and the associated traffic. Also cuts out about 60 Mi. of driving on the way home.
Don't count on any services between 26 and Clatskanie but it's within tank range from the coast. Clatskanie has lots of fuel and fast food places. A couple of restaurants but I've never eaten there so I can't recommend anything beyond the fast food places.

Sorry to announce we will not be going on this cruise. The case of my transmission is broken. No time to rebuild it. Hope you all have a great time. The weather should be great!
Until next time....

My aunt died last week from her battle with ALS and we have a memorial scheduled for Sunday. Thus I will not be going onward to Florence on Saturday as planned, but rather heading back to Seattle with everyone else after Seaside.
The STP is heading our way Saturday so we should try not to run over any bikers on our way home.

See everyone at the 512 PnR at 8:30 tomorrow!

Kevin & Di--
Sorry to hear about your aunt. Gay and I pass our condolences.
If we return via the Jackson highway we'll be on the opposite side of I5. I hear they stop traffic on the bridge from Oregon Hwy 30 to Longview if there are large groups of bikers. But they only close the southbound lanes. We'll be heading northbound. But if we pass any a good rev of the engine may be worthwhile.
Looking forward to meeting up with everybody. Hoping to have time for a quick McBiscuit.
See you guys tomorrow.
Bruce & Gay
