Default possibly biggest BS story ever?

On way home from Roseburg car cruise stop at I5 rest stop. Mini van driver instantly breaks out the tallest tale I've suffered thru yet. His fathers uncle (LOL) worked for Shelby and had to crash test FIVE HUNDRED Cobras. Shelby let him keep one and he still has it! What the hell is wrong with people? Where do I sign up for that one way trip to Mars?

That is how I got my Kirkham, I use to work for them as a stunt driver and got to keep the car after I tested it...

Thinking it would take about FIVE HUNDRED people to crash test that many Cobras -

Everyone knows Shelby would/could/did take "liberites" about his cars including the total number of Cobras made........I think the total of the 2000 and 3000 series was just over 1,000...........

Well, that is totally wrong,he had to have made at least 5000 because just in the last few years attending one or two car shows a year and talking to folks there, there are at least 2,500 original Cobras in LOUISIANA ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

I think he's confusing the Hot Wheels versions. I crashed one about 500 times myself.

If he told that with a straight face then I give him kudos for being a creative bullchit artist, telling a tall tale is a lost art these days. Most of the time no effort is put into it at all. Members here do separate themselves in that regard -

"Is it real?"
Yes, followed by some phenomenal bullchit that makes one believe it's better than the real deal

At a car show last summer, a guy walked up to me and apparently wanted to offer his services as a Shelby expert and told me that it was a shame that the Cobra went out of production simply because it was going to cost too much to put 5 mph bumpers on them.

I entered a car show a few years ago and parked next to a very nice Shell Valley cobra. I regretted my parking spot decision after talking with the owner of the Shell Valley. He insisted that Carroll Shelby himself personally welded the frame for his car.

Gotta love that one! What did you say to him after you finished rolling around on the floor?

What's wrong if asked, "Is it real?" and ya answer, "CAN'T you tell???"

No sense in arguing with somebody like that, so I just said "Wow, that's interesting, I didn't know CS worked for Shell Valley." Right when he started into what sounded like the beginning of a long winded and elaborate BS story to explain how CS built his frame, the judges walked up. I avoided him the rest of the day.

A yup. I have met many characters. Took the car to a local Thursday night car get together at a local hangout. A guy came up (beer in hand) and started asking about the car. I was polite and tried to tell him, but he cut me off and told me that I don't know "the real story". Then proceeded to tell me how much I didn't know about, including that the Enzo and Carroll battle was a total fix and that the late Cobras were actually built with left over GT500 chassis and parts. I just nodded and said "wow!" Quite entertaining actually..
What else can you do?

Obvious liars make living easy.
When somone starts in with a crap story, I just put their name in the 'BS list' and move on.
