SPF Help
SPF Help! I'm Jerry , I have # 2773 , have owned since day one 2008, did the install myself. Ford Racing Windsor Stroker 427, Dual Spark Blue , MSD 8485, standard coil, Holley 670. It started running bad last fall, rebuilt carb. replaced trigger coil, still ran bad. Missing in exhaust note. Took carb apart did not see anything wrong. Still runs rough, replaced coil, no change. Now when the twin fans come on it kills the motor. Now after it starts it runs for 2 seconds then shuts off. Ran a 12V wire to coil , after it starts it will keep running, but when the funs come on it stumbles . Replaced ing. switch, did not change. I'm stumped, Jerry

What is the spark quality like at the plug leads, as tested with a spark tester etc?
Have you visually checked the cap and rotor?

When the fans come on, that places additional load on the alternator which needs mechanical energy from your engine -- and that is just enough to kill your engine (because the engine is not running right). If you disconnected your alternator, and the fans were on, it likely would not kill your engine. You could test it that way to eliminate the red herring of some sort of bizarre wiring malfunction that involved the fans that was causing your engine to run poorly.

Did you replace the plugs?
Is it one cylinder misfiring or all of them?
Pull plug wires one by one while running and isolate misfiring cylinder. Swap plug to another cylinder and see if misfire moves to that cylinder. If so, it’s the plug.
If not the plugs, wires, distributor, coil, carb, alternator, pull the offending cylinder’s valve cover and rotate engine manually to check valve operation. Could be a valve failing to open.

Do you have a choke horn on that carb? If not its easy to get the main body backwards...
SURE the plugs are per firing order?
Polarity to the coil correct?
Have you opened up your MSD(?) Dizzy? Does it look like spent time at the bottom of the sea? (They Rust BAD)

Jerry you might want to post this in the SPF area, rather than the NW Club.
Superformance - Club Cobra
Good luck
