Thanks Bob for suggesting this location. I have never been up there so I am a bit green regarding the area. I was planning on going up there this summer for the weekend to check things out.
Everyone I am sure has been pretty busy. I am still interested in heading up there with the Cobras.
Can I get a quick roll call from folks who are still interested?

Stephen,
I just noticed on an events calendar that there is an antique car "rally" scheduled in Winthrop that weekend. We may want to lock up a block soon to ensure that date. Looks like half a dozen so far. Let me know what you think.

OK. I called the Winthrop Inn ( http://www.winthropinn.com) and blocked 10 rooms. They seem very friendly. They are holding the rooms until the end of July. I think we can fill more than 10 rooms. There are more than 10 rooms available. My suggestion is to reserve your room as soon as possible. Mention the “Cobra Club”.
The rates are $85 for a room with a single queen and $90 for a room with two queen beds.
Looking forward to the trip! I’ll have more details as we get closer to the date which just to remind everyone is September 13.

Better Hurry!
You all had better hurry and get your rooms before everyone from Oregon gets there! There was a big article and pictures (2 pages) in the Oregonian newspaper this past weekend talking about how great Winthrop is!
Online story
Cheers!
Mike

Based on the number of responses looks like the Overnighter will be well attended. My count looks like Tomsic, Lawler, Parmenter, K&D, Jayem, Rich, Rauch, High Plains Drifter and Leep will be there.
Rauch suggested:
"Overnighter to Winthrop – Suggested plan is to leave North Bend, WA, 203 North to 2. Take 2 East through Leavenworth. Continue east to 97 and head North to 153. 153 to Winthrop (total miles day 1 - 234). From Winthrop take 20 West to 9. Take 9 South to 2 East. Take 2 East to 203 and 203 back to North Bend (total miles day 2 – 222 miles)."
Is everyone in agreement.?

I can live with it. Should make for a leisurely and scenic.drive. Might be tough to keep 8 cars together (Perry I assume will meet us in Winthrop) so we may need to plan 1 or 2 meeting points along the way if we need to regroup. Might even need a fuel stop as once you get to 97 there's few and far between stations, pretty much Chelan, Pateros, and Twisp.

Sorry folks for not posting updated plans and such. Here is the planned route:
To Winthrop:
Leave the North Bend Outlet parking lot. Take hwy 202 to hwy 203 north. Make a right before Monroe on Ben Howard Road. Take Ben Howard Road east to Mann Road making a left on Mann Road. Make a right on hwy 2 where we will stop at the Sultan Bakery in Sultan WA to pick up folks who might have come from the North and did not want to drive down to North Bend (we will stay for 30 minutes – time based on when we leave North Bend).
We will leave the Sultan Bakery heading east on hwy 2 through Leavenworth were we will pick up hwy 97 north. Hwy 97 north past the Columbia River through Chelan making a left on hwy 153 where it turns into hwy 20. We will take hwy 20 to Winthrop. Estimated mileage is 235 miles - the hotel is the Winthrop Inn. I think there are still some rooms available if you still wish to join us.
From Winthrop:
Leave Winthrop on hwy 20 heading west to hwy 9 heading south to 405 heading south.
Question – Were would folks like to have lunch? Leavenworth, Cashmere, Chelan? If I was to assume lunch at 12 noon and working backwards that would mean leaving North Bend at 7:30 AM for Chelan, leaving North Bend at 8:30 for Cashmere and leaving North Bend at 8:50 for Leavenworth. Winthrop is approximately an hour and a half from Chelan.

Stephen, looks like a good plan. Considering Slab Daddy's advanced years it may be prudent to take the Cashmere option and leave North Bend at 8:30, but any of those would work for me since I'm just a few miles down Hwy 18.
