Finally!
Yesterday we finally had a break in the weather! I woke up to sunshine and dry streets. All this after a 6-8 weeks of rain and wet roads, record rainfall for Oregon in March. Just what the Cobra owner wants.
Roll the car out of the garage. Turn the key and the dam choke stuck so I could not get car started. Finally pulled the air cover and fixed the problem, started right up. Next I get a mile down the road and it dies at a lighted intersection. Tried to start and could tell I had some fouled plugs. Tried several times, acted like it wanted to go but just too many fouled plugs. Decided to have my co-pilot (11 yr old son home for spring break) jump out and push me through the left turn and down a hill. Actually was going to park it and call home for tools to pull plugs for cleaning once I got it to the bottom. Decided to give it a "push start" try on the way down and it took! Looked in my mirror and the kid was still running full steam down the hill trying to catch me! Cleared the plugs and made a "U-ey" to pick up my kid. His words, "man that 427 sounds great from behind!" Ran like crap all the way into work, kept wanting to die at every stop. Probably something in the needle valve causing flooding problem. Got to work and pulled the primary bowl and cleaned it out. Pulled the plugs and cleaned them. Changed the fuel filter.
All is well now! We blasted home just in time to beat the rain. Hope it is not another 4-6 weeks before she runs again.
Be Safe!
Mike
