Default Road Trip: Tacoma to Florence OR.

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in a weather permitting roadtrip to Florence OR. for the Rhody Days Show and Shine. We would leave May 16th and return on May 18th. This is supposed to be a great show and has just under 200 cars. There is also a Harley run that will be going on downtown Florence on Saturday. I understand it will be kind of gamble to plan something in May do to the weather.....but what the heck!

I was thinking a good meeting spot would be the Park and Ride at I-5 and 512. Any takers?

Cobras in the Sand Dunes? We could put paddles on the back & put up a prize for the first guy to reach the top of Competition Hill!!!

Hyde, as much fun as racing up comp hill is.....I think I will leave that to the quads and sandrails I would be willing to help install some paddles on your cobra. I think it would give the jeeps a run for their money in some sand drags. I'm sure that would be a first!

The problem is my FIA will have exhaust that exits lower than the body itself leaving no clearance. I was hoping that we could find a nice 427 car cause the pipes ride up a little higher

Smile Coast Trip

Jake,

What's your tentative route? Work over to Hwy 101 and down the coast? That would be an excellant drive at least the Oregon portion. If you come down I-5 to Portland you could cut over to the coast via McMinnville and visit the Spruce Goose at the air museum, well worth the time. I am sure there may be others like myself that would be interested in joining up with anyone coming down from Washington for the trip down.

Definetly would have to be something that everyone needs to commit to ahead of time and cancel a day or two before if the weather stinks.

Wonder if anyone from N.California might be interested in meeting in Florence? Might even be a shorter drive than North Washington!

Mike

Mike, I was thinking I-5 south to Portland and then cutting over just like you mentioned. I love the section of HWY 101 south from Lincoln City to Florence, it can not be beat. I would love to see some of the Oregon people join up.....the more the better! Heck, we may even take a club participation award if they have one.
I have not checked on lodging, as I wanted to get a feel for interest. I will be staying in Florence at my parents home, but will work on getting some lodging info out in the near future.
Please pray for sun!

Thumbs up Museum

Jake,

Sounds like a good plan.

The air museum in McMinnville is definetly worth the stop. The Goose is breath taking! I was there shortly after they opened up a few years ago and I know they have added more planes. They have some absolutely immaculate WW2 planes plus I think they recently added a SR71.

Anyone from the Portland area interested? I do not see any takers from up north yet either?

Mike

Mike, the air museum sounds like fun to me. Now we just need some hardcore cobra people to start stepping up. It sounds like the two best choices for lodging in Florence will be the Holiday Inn Express and the Best Western which is on the Siuslaw river.
