Default Ininca Shield

This is probably an old thread but do any of you guys have this product installed on your cars? If so where did you have it installed and what was the cost.

Thumbs up Save the Hassle

Save yourself the hassle and go have the real stuff put on. They will warranty against paint chips and glass cracks for 3-years. Yes even the headlights can have it applied.

Stongard is located in Bellevue, and after the time you will spend applying and re-applying your Invinca-sheild a few times, you'll have wished you went here:

http://www.stongard.com/sgcontent/default.asp

They will create custom patterns (and every Cobra replicar is different) to cover almost part of the car you want them to. I just wish they could have covered the entire car with it.

Hey Blue: Bet you they both use the same "real" stuff, which is from 3M. As for having Invinca Shield re-applied, don't think you can prove it from the Olthoof's. They use it on many of their SuperFormance cars with great results. Just what I know from this perspective. My guess is they are both good, so whatever rings your chims will work.

Keith, The 3M product works well and was applied to my car from the factory. I think you should just use some clear scotch tape....after all they are just KIT cars.

I had my rear fender leading edges done by them (wish I had done the whole car at new). There is no need to remove for cars shows etc, as the material is almost invisible. If it really gets doinked, you take it in have it replaced. I also did my headlamps with another similar material that is a good 0.125" thick to prelcude rock damage.

All Bellevue and Seattle area exotic car dealers use these guys. I saw 2 new Ferrari, 1 new Porsche Carrera Turbo, various MB's, and a host of cars there from Park Place which is just down the street. (I even saw a Z06 that some Cobra guy named Kevin owns with the entire front end covered!!!)

Keith,

I know at least one Superformance guy had big problems with the install quality. Then when they tried to remove the screw up it took patches of paint.

Just my $.02 worth

Chad:

I know about the Superformance guy you speak about. The paint that came off was under the oil cooler, the area that doesn't get much attention when it comes to prep or painting. All that meant was the Scotchcal stuck and the paint didn't. It was a bit of a scam to get his car painted anyhoo.

Default StonGard

They removed a patch of the stuff from my Zee-Oh-Six and replaced it without an issue to the paint. This treatment barely uses any sticky stuff, just lots of static and suction. Must have been the paint on the Superformance that was the issue.

I've got the Cobra appointment for July 14th at StonGard to have it done too. Just had the rock chips fixed and don't want to do that again! Last night I tried to put on wire stone guards over my headlights and what a joke! Gonna return them to Finishline and have the headlights covered too by StonGard plastic while it's in their shop.

Hope to see you all on the Glacier ride!

Kevin
