Jorgen,
How would you suggest I handle the edges of the garage floor since my builder molded a slight swale into the concrete around the edge of the floor near the garage door? The sample tile I received looks great, btw...

Chill,
Usually you start your installation from the garaga door and work your way in towards the house, so you can start at the edge you are refering to
. If you send me a photo of what the "slight swale" looks like I can give you my input...it may be a none issue

Jorgen,
The car to the left is my daily driver. It is a 1965 Comet and not a Hemi. Just a stock 289, two barell with an automatic. I just had the engine and transmission completely rebuilt last Summer as this lousy gas had eaten the valves up.
Chill,
My garage had just a slight lift along the front edge where the door comes down supposedly to help keep water out. The black edge strips you can see went over it well and there is no way to tell it is even there. If yours isn't to much more than mine you should be ok.

OK, guys, educate the ignorant:
What's the utility of this surfacing? I can understand putting epoxy down, to avoid stains, I guess. But tile?
Thanks (looking to either extend the current garage or build a new one this Spring)

It is a black one. Can't hardly see the whoopsie but I know it's there. I promise to throw down a sheet of galvanized 22ga when welding and cutting from now on. Really, really I will!
I can't use my edge pieces at the door opening yet as the rubber weather barrier went down with a curve in it thanks to the whoop-de-doo in the floor. I shall wait until the sun shines for that.

Great Product
I too have recently ordered and am installing a Racedeck floor in my garage. I agree with everything that has been said about this product--great looking, very easy to install, much cheaper than epoxy, etc. In addition to the standard tiles, you can have an image transferred to a 3' x 3' or 4' x 6' sized tile layout. I am having the cobra nose emblem trasferred to a 3' x 3' layout.
Customer service has also been great. I received my order for the standard tile in less than 1 week. The image layout should arrive shortly. In Southern Cal. I have worked with Glen Evans--great guy, really goes out of his way to help you and answer any questions you might have. His number is 760-789-8220.

OK, from the "I can't make up my mind guy", you've got my attention with the "image transfer". How is that done?
New shop has to be really cool, or I'm not going to work!
DV...Maybe a combination of RaceDeck and epoxy?

I hope the RaceDeck guys keep that Cobra nose emblem transfer around for future orders! Could be a smart move on their part, with so many of us looking for something to put on our floors besides "paint".
DV: A combo of Epoxy and RaceDeck might be interesting. Have you had any luck with epoxy in the past? I've seen several floors that have peeled, but I helped a friend of mine do his garage floor a couple years ago and it has held up fine (surprise!). I think it's all in the prep work. It was a new house, so his garage had brand new concrete, and we etched it with muriatic acid. The paint was from Griot's and it's a 2-part mix. We put 2-coats on (like they recommend) and it has stood up great. It's the only "painted" floor that I haven't seen peel or chip. It's almost $60.00 / gallon (I think we used 5 gal total for 2-coats) so it isn't cheap..........but so far it's working!

Terry,
I have done so much research on that subject I should be an expert! A company called "U-Coat it" gave us enough paint, etc., to do a 2 stall garage for the first Fling. That IS the best we have found bare none!
Now they even have a clearcoat that you can put on if you really want to go nuts with the finish.
For what ever I paint, it will be U-Coat it. WHY? Because, every time you go to a professional type web site to check on their products, they all seem to compare it to the "U".
RaceDeck - Jorgen: Just came up with another good question for you that I haven't seen answered anywhere. We went to great expense, not mentioning the work it took, to install in floor heat.
I'm thinking if we do go with "RD" now I'll be insulating the floor, not letting the heat transer like it should. Comments please!
DV....The Fling is easier than this!

Double Venom-
I not sure that you have seen us compare to U-Coat It "Paint"? if you choose the paint option, I hope it works for what you intend to use it for in your garage. If you truly want a coating in your garage, I would only recomend a high qaulityQaurtz flooring with proper surface prep...I am not sure that the average homeowner can do this themselves....
As for the insultation factor with RaceDeck- RaceDeck works well with floors that have radiant heat ( I have it in my garage). RaceDeck is a interlocking floor that is suspended and allows aire to circulate underneath.
You can alwaysa call me at the corporate office at 800-457-0174 or call Bob (robert) Evans ( RaceDeck of SoCal) ...BTW: Bob has over 20 years of cement, epoxy, paint, etc experience...prior to RaceDeck.
Thanks
