Clear Water Casino Car Show on the 13th of June
Hello all. About two weeks ago while preparing to go to the Port Townsend show, Fred and myself had a conversation with members of the Northwest Porsche Club. They had invited us to the participate in their fund raiser for a number of charities they support. The event is schedule to be held at the Clear Water Casino which is near Bainbridge Island. Their goal is to fill the 300 spaces the Casino has set aside for event and they are going balls to the wall contacting as many car clubs in the Northwest to make this event a sucess. They are planning to have a barbecue and opening the event up to vendors. The pre-registration cost is $10.00 and $15.00 at the event. Since the money is for a worthy cause, it is tax deductable. The question is who all would be interested in participating? It would be cool if we could caravan 15-20 Cobras into the site and really show the Porsche guys what real horsepower is all about. I would be happy to coordinate logistics i.e. (reserved parking spaces, meeting location, pre-registration etc..) for the club if we can come up with strong numbers to support the event. I would like to tell the organizers by the 30th of May, a rough head count so we can get an idea of how much space needs to be set aside. I'll get the website and post the details as soon as I can.

Weather permitting I think I can bring the FFR over for the show.

Looks like we may be up to 6 participants. I know there are probably some strap hangers out there so I hold off on making any lewd request of the Porsche club like leaving their little dogs at home. Would'nt want them burning their little fluffy coats on hot side pipes. If you want to see a flyer for the event, you can go to their web site at www.olympic Peninsula Region Porsche Club of America.

I know one of the officers of the Olympic Peninsula Porche club. I have the entry sheet here and Gary will e-mail me an on-line version if I want one. If the weather is nice it will be in Front of the Casino, if it is threatening it will be moved to the 6th floor parking garage.
Entry fee before June 1 -- $10
After June 1--$15

Thanks G.R. What more can you ask for other than a clear day. By the way, if we can round up say 10-12 Cobras could you get us Prime Parking at the Casino? Also can you post the application on line for those who want to save $5.00 by registering early. OK NWCC time to show our colors, pipe in if you are interested. Even if you are not sure you can make it, sign up anyhow, the $10.00 donation goes to to a worthy cause. Tell your bubbas who don't visit the Club Cobra site about the event and let's make some noise. Besides I sure the Casino would love the business and the location is great. Any of the Oregon crowd interested ??

Gary sent me the info, early this AM but it was scrambled--tried calling him all day and just got off the phone with his son. They left late this morning and won't be home until Tuesday. His son said he would try and get the info to me from Gary's computer--maybe.
Sorry

GR, I think we are up to about 8 so far. I expect a flury probably the week before the event especially if the forecast looks good.

I didn't realize there were 8 already--I'll talk to Gary and see if he will set us up a section.

How about a roll call say by Friday of all who may be attending the show. Extended forecast looks favorable but should be much clearer by mid -week. Also I heard if the weather goes South during the event, they have made arrangements with the casino to move cars to the parking garage. GR is this correct?

Yes it is correct--they will move the cars to the 6th deck in the covered parking garage.
Seems like it will be a good weekend weatherwise.

OK Folks, the forecast is looking real good for Sunday. Here is the plan if you are traveling from the Tacoma/Federal Way area and would like to caravan down. Meet Fred Hamilton at 0700 (7:00AM) at the Shari's in Federal Way. Caravan to Poulsbo Waterfront and meet Keith, about 0800. Have donuts and Bagels. Leave Poulsbo for Clearwater (~0845-0900) for Clearwater Casino. Arrive casino about 0930 and register. If you are coming from Seattle/Woodinville area and do not want to drive around, you can take the Bainbridge Island Ferry and drive straight in to the casino. It looks like about 12 cars so far so if you are thinking you will make it please pipe in so we can set aside enough spaces. Bring the wife/girlfriend and lots of quarters. Hope to see you all there.

Anyone still planning on going? After all what's a shower to you NW natives
Tried calling Gary from the Porche club but got his VM.
If you are coming to this let me know so I can give Gary a fairly good estimate so he can arrange a group space for us. A yes or no would be nice.
I really do hate planning anything outdoor related here--the weather sure never cooperates--unless it is clear all week then rains on the weekends that you can count on until 2 weeks in Aug
