I was wondering if any of you guys have mounted your front plates ob your cobras?
I really dont know if the cops will mess with me or not so I figured I would ask you guys what you have done so I dont get pulled over on this weekends run.

Matt, I would not get to excited over the front plate issue. I have not had a front plate for 2 years and have never been messed with by the cops. Most law enforcement are to busy dreaming about the car to notice the plate.

I was thinking about not putting it on and just putting it behind the seat. And thats what I will do.

Had the front plate on for a while. I tie wrapped it to the oil cooler scoop, but kept dragging it on the road and knocking it off so removed it and put it in the trunk. Been stopped a couple of times, once because of no plate, but the trooper really just wanted to see the car and agreed that there really was no good place to put it and started asking how the car handled, how fast, etc. etc. I don't think you need to worry about it, but keep it with you.

I simply cable-tied mine to the bottom of the front hoop
It pivots away/under when driving and does not hit my paint so it's OK but it does detract from the car's looks a bit when sitting still. Front plates are a dumb idea anyway and many states do not require them. I will agree that most street cops are too busy having a daydream of owning your car to notice the plate issue..

I was pulled over for no front plate, I told the cop that front plates were not standard equiptment in 1965.
He believed me and let me go.

I haven't had a plate on the Cobra since it was built in 1999. No cop has even mentioned it. I've been stopped a few times but never ticketed yet. Knock on wood. I keep both plates bolted together on the rear, just so I don't loose the other plate.

Knock on wood as well. Over 2.5 years with no front plate and not only have I not been stopped for it, in all the times I have stopped and spoke to cops, not one has mentioned it. If I had to put one on, I always that I would hing it up in the nose and hold it up with a pin removed from the cockpit by a cable. If I ever get pulled over, pull the pin, front plate. I would be interesting to see their reaction when the look and see the plate.

Had a Cobra since 1999 and have not had a front plate. I keep it in the car, but nobody has asked about it....Even when I got pulled over for speeding supposedly, the guy didn't mention anything about the plate not being on my Corvette....Yup, he gave me a ticket and called the Cobra a Corvette. Grrrr....It was several years ago, so no biggie now, but geez.

Most patrolmen, unless you were really doing something stupid, won't really check or care about the front plate or lack of. Have you ever been stopped for any reason in your daily driver? Did the officer ever check for a front plate? Sort of a moot point, yet there is always the "one" that will be a stickler for "the rules".
Too bad we can't use the Euro style nose plates--just print your plate number on static cling, remove when you want

In Ontario, Canada it is illegal to run without a front plate. The fine is over $100. I used the standard issue SPF license plate plate bracket that mounts to front passenger side lower turn signal. A photo of the bracket and plate are in my gallery.

I have a black wire grill 1"x3" mounted about 3"
inside the air scoop to keep large things off the
radiator. I used small stainless steel rings to hang
my front license plate from the top behind the grill
centered in the opening. It swings back once I get
going so does not affect cooling at all and really isn't
that noticeable when stopped.

Been Stopped Once
King County Sheriff. Walked past the drivers door and headed for the front of the car. Noticed a slight grimmace when he saw my front plate. Didn't get tickedted, but I'm thinking he whould have hammered me on the missing plate had it been so.
Jake... you've got major slack and lack of concern.. for some reason, eh?

In Washington of course the law says "A front plate must be displayed in clear view" I had a WSP North of Marysville pull ahead of me for a brief second or two and then back off the throttle and point to the front of the car. I thought he wanted me to pull over and so I slowed and moved to the right but he kept going. I can only assume he was looking for a plate. I have since zip tied mine to the front sway bar and If I ever get it in a car show I'll cut it off when I get there. I must say however, countless law enforcement from Sheriff to tribal Police have passed or have been passed and most of them had their thumbs up!
