Ok its aprox 13 hrs drive time from Seattle to Reno according to Map quest so figure another 5hrs or so for traffic, gas and food stops, if we drove straight thru that is 18 hrs +/-. We're not up for that in the Cobra
My wife and I figured we would leave here in the am on the 18th, overnight in CA and arrive in Reno on the 19th. Gives sometime to relax get some sleep before the start on the 20th.
Plan on leaving Reno in the afternoon on Sun and do the reverse, getting back home on Monday afternoon.
Lots of variables, weather for one.
Caravan would be great if there is interest in going. We can always plan on where to meet etc., where to stay on the road, and that sort of thing.
If this turn out is anything like the Flings it is an awesome sight and sound. If you think 6-12 Cobras is a sight imagine 200.

Steve T and I talked it over last night and we are a go. Our plans are to leave on the 19th. The wives have not really commited to the idea yet, if we go alone we will do the drive in one day. Now if we have the other seat filled we will stop over some where, maybe in the Weed or Shasta area. Has a common casino been named yet. Return Sunday afternoon with a stay over some where.

I think the hotels are being checked out re: price, amenities, car securities, costs/discounts, etc. this or next weekend.
Right now Vic wants to go though it may change( ). also we were thinking of an overnight in the Weed or Shasta area. Ron has offered his place to meet up with some of the NoCal group.

Hello Guys!
I am wondering, it appears that Ron and Perry have registered, are there others in the NW that are still considering attending WSCB in May / Reno? Brent? Fred? G.R? Keith? Bish? Scott? Others? Waldo? Don? DonC?
Just trying to get an idea. More than 50% of the alloted rooms and Corral spots are gone and you all were one of the first regions to respond quickly, so I don't want to lose sight of that. If there is a flurry of last minute attendees after April 1, I will have lost the chance to try and negotiate extra facility space for parking and rooms at the reduced rate. Just checking. I hope you all are able to drive or trailer down in a pack somehow. If you can't make it, we all understand. Thanks!

Duane:
I'd really like to attend but my schedule is way up in the air for May right now. Have a trip to Phoenix the first week in April and a lot will hinge on that.
I'll give you an up as soon as I get things sorted out.
Thanks for the concern.

Myself and Steve T have regestered and plan to leave out of here on the 19th, if the wives decide not to go then we plan on driving straight through, other wise we will plan on stopping in the Weed Shasta area. We can drive our cars more than 25 mile with out trailering, that is if I can keep the BB rods oiled.
Have we got any other takers from the NW going.

Hi Don, Fred:
Thanks for the update. I am not able to see the hotel registrations as group admin for the last two days. Their hotel reservation website has been unavailable. The hardcopy registrations are trickling in through snail-mail, so I'll check there as well later today.
As for others, we have about 4 up your way so far, including Perry from up in Surrey B.C. / Canada so far. More than 1/2 the original spots are gone already at WSCB, so I'm considering some early contingency planning if we run over the first 100 Corral spots. At this rate of registration, and based on the latecomer calls I'm getting, it will be close or over. I just wanted to make sure all you guys were aware, since your region was the first group reply stating your were coming down in a group of 12 or so.
I would think if you all do register, for a group of 12 caravanning down, you would most-likely want at least one person with a trailer to be able to pop their car off the trailer, and scoop someone up having any troubles and keep going for any reason someone has an issue. There will be plenty of eager people on site at WSCB to help fix cars and Summit Racing and Dynamic Motorsports garage only 5 minutes away if parts are needed once you get there. We'll see ya there!

Are you planning on a straight through drive ? I5 down to shasta or all back roads. I've made the drive several times .Two gas stops makes it an 12 hour drive using I5 from Tacoma. My perferred route is leave mid morning to midday. stop in Roseburg Motel 6 ,nice parking lot easy access, then down I5 to Shasta ,over through the woods to Susanville, then into Reno from the north. We've stayed in Susanville and Shasta .The worst part is Portland traffic at rush hour, try to avoid it.This way is all paved roads some scenery. The woods between Shasta and Susanville is great for mid day drive when warm. Stay clear of woods at night ,wildlife crossing roads. Straight trhough is a hard day of driving .not much conversation at either end.Any kind of a group would want some conversating and curousing, food and such and usually in a crowd law of averages ,something will happen to somebody in the group. There is a certain security in a group, but large groups clogg resturants and servive stations and no two cars can drive the same distance on a tank of gas. I have a twenty five gallon tank and only hope I can get the mileage I got when I drove the car home from Reno in 99. Gasoline gets higher in Oregon higher yet in California and redidiculus off I5.Susanville is a larger small town enough stations to get gas prices back to reality.
Once in Reno we have stayed many times at the Best Western south on Virginia ,South of the convention center. They have a pool in the center courtyard and only two floors.Nice and calm. Not like a casino.I like to go to a casino for a while but get tired of it quickly. Can only reccamend one casino buffet and not on the weekend. My experience comes from three Hot August nights and several drives to LasVegas.
Just how big of a deal is this turning into? How much driving ?socializing ? parking? How structured is it sofar? What kind of time and money are we anticapating spending?

It is going to be somewhat "unstructured". There is a hotel, Peppermill Hotel Casino reserved ,a guarded "corral" for early entries, discount room rates. Entry fee is $30.
My wife and I figured an overnight both ways, we plan on leaving here on the 19th, Thurs., and getting back on the 23rd. Mon. The event is over that weekend, 20-22.
$$ cost would be for rooms, gas, meals, and what ever you want to "lose" if you gamble.
I think Fred is planning a straight-thru. If you are going to the Red HOOK next Sat at noon maybe we can all get together and tentativily plan something. I know a couple of the BC guys have also expressed interest in going .
Right now I think there about 80 cars planning on going and as it gets closer I'm sure more will signup.
We're looking forward to it and are going. It would be fun to caravan with other Cobras.
P.S. I only have a 12 gal tank

Patti and I are talking about the trip. I will not be at Red Hook on the 19th. I will not try this trip in one day We might leave on the 19th with some people or just go it alone and see everybody there. Keep me posted and I'll watch this site for information.

I'm speaking for Steve and myself. We are planning on leaving here on the 19th with a stop in the Weed/Shasta area. Get into Reno on the 20 at what ever time. We plan on leaving on the after noon of the 22 with a stay over where ever, getting back home on the 23rd. As you all know that have travel with the cobra nothing is in concret, if Shasta is to far or the weather goes to hell we will stop sooner but we will not do the drive in one day. The only way Steve and I was going to do in in 1 day was WITHOUT WIVES. WIVES are going. Dad and Gary if you are thinking of making the trip you are welcome to hook up with us and we can protect each others back.
I will also add this if the weather is looking bad for the 19th thru the 23rd I will back out of the whole thing.

Hey Allen,
Is 11 day's splitting hairs coming from Oregon?
May 20th is pretty darn close to June. Get that Cobra ready, join in on the caravan and drive that bad boy. No more excuses now.

If any of the group fron Washington and Oregon are going to be traveling the I-5 route that goes by Redding on the 19th please let me know as I would like to drive over with someone. I live just a half mile off I-5 and could wait by the side of the road to meet up with anyone that may come this way.
G.R.
My place is still available for anyone that may want to leave a trailer and pickup here. I just have a 16 gallon tank and will need to stop at least a few times. That 33 miles per gallon just don't make it with small tanks.
The having one person with a trailer and maybe some extra gas or parts sounds good to me.
