Historics at Pacific Raceways
It's that time again...sign-ups for the SOVREN Historics vintage sports car races!
If you want to park in the car corral with the Cobra Club, send me money and I'll get tickets for everyone. I'm pretty sure all the information you need is below on the fact sheet...if not, just ask. As always, I need to send the money to SOVREN no later than June 15th.
Here's the Car Corral prices:
CAR CORRAL PASSES (CAR AND DRIVER ONLY)
FRIDAY ONLY: $25.00
SATURDAY ONLY: $25.00
SUNDAY ONLY: $25.00
THREE DAY PASS: $40.00
My preference is to attend Sat. July 2nd. Did I mention you get to make a couple of parade laps around Pacific Raceways?
Here's the general fact sheet I received from SOVREN:

EVENT DESCRIPTION: The Pacific Northwest Historics features many of the world’s rarest and most beautiful pre-1970 race cars. This year, more than 250 vintage race cars are expected to enter. Favorites include Ferraris, Lotuses, Cobras, Corvettes, Porsches, Austin Healeys and some less recognizable names like Elva, Ginetta, and McLaren. Most are in mint condition through extensive restoration and many attain speeds in excess of 150 miles per hour. Some of the cars are valued at over $1 million and many have impressive racing histories. Competitors come from all over the West Coast and Canada. The wheel to wheel competition on the challenging 2 ¼-mile road course includes nine turns, 200-300 foot elevation drop and a near ¾-mile straightaway.
The paddock area is open to all spectators.
FEATURED DISPLAY: Sports Racing Cars of the 50s
CAR CORRAL: An additional 250 vintage and collector cars from local car clubs will be on display in the car corral.

SOVREN Guild of Children’s Hospital
CONFIRMED SPONSORS: Title Sponsor, Phil Smart Mercedes-Benz; Presenting Sponsor, Edelbrock Corporation; Associate Sponsor, Jackson Dean Construction, others TBD.
BENEFICIARY: All proceeds benefit uncompensated care at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle. Over the last 17 years, close to $4 million dollars has been raised at the races. Our goal for 2005 is $450,000.

I've noticed that there have been no replys to this message since 5/2/05. Is this event not popular with the NW Cobra Club? The reason I'm asking, is that I sponsor the event along with a few others, and would like to know. Children's Hospital is a great facility, and any support we can provide is important. Is the ticket cost too much? I'm hoping to have my Superformance MKIII ready for the event. George Anderson is currently building my engine, and I'm having Blood Enterprises do the install in June.

Miles,
Yes there are usually lots of cobra's there,I think we had 15 there last year. Most people just email Rich and meet as a group and cruise there together. Your cobra sounds great, hope it's ready.

Rich,
I plan to be there again this year. Weather permitting, I won't park a Suburu in the Cobra Corral.
I'll get a check in the mail to you this weekend. I'll need a three-day ticket but I seem to recall that getting a ticket in my hand for Friday puts you in a bind for time and travel. I've reserved a room at the Best Western Peppertree in Auburn. If I get the check for a three-day ticket to you in time, could you mail my ticket to the motel?

Rich, thanks for setting this event up. Do I send you $25 for me and the car and buy Dolly's ticket on site. Or send you $50 for the whole deal.

Miles,
We usually have 10-15 cobras show up for the car corral. Most of us give parade lap rides to event volunteers too. Hope to see you there.
Steve,
I'll send the tickets to where ever.
Jay,
I can get Dolly's' ticket if you want.

Rich:
I'll send my check out tomorrow as well. I'm looking forward to the event, as I've gone for the previous two years as well, without bringing a car. I've been a member of the Porsche Club (PNWR) for the last ten years, and have never attended a club event. I'm tring to turn over a new leaf this year and enjoy myself a little more. I'm just hoping that my engine is ready by June 10th, so it can be shipped to Blood and installed before the event. I'd like to drive it a couple of times before as well. There was a tornado & 3" Hail in Hastings, NE where the engine is being built, and that might cause George some problems. Hopefully not.

Miles,
If your engine's not ready or it looks like rain, drive your Porsche, park with the PCA guys (the tickets don't say which club you're affiliated with), and hang out with us. If I don't get a new radiator in, new puller fan installed, and my clutch hydraulic fluid leak fixed, that's what I'm doing.

Brad, in the past we've met up on the entrance road to the track, handed out the tickets, and all rumbled in together. But I can certainly send them to you if you like.

It would be great if you could send the tickets in case I can't meet up with you guys. I was planning on going Friday and Saturday. I have put the check in the mail today with my return address on a separate piece of paper. If it works out I would love to meet you guys at the entrance. What time at the entrance?
Regards,
Brad

This is looking good...as of today, we've got 12 Cobras and a GT-40 signed up. Don't forget, the deadline for getting money to me is 06/15.

I blew the engine out on the track Wed. so it looks as if we will be bring the wifes car. Didn't the same thing happen a couple years ago. Mrs H is not the happiest person right now. New motor is in the works right now.
