mounting quickjacks?
I am changing my bumperettes to quickjacks. In looking at pictures though, it seems folks have mounted both ways (bolts on inside portion and bolts on outer edge of car). Which is correct and why?
Also, what type of nut should be used?

tracyda: It boils down to whatever turns you on. The originals were mounted every which way, in or out. Just make sure they match from side to side. I've even seen originals mounted differently on the front and rear. As for nuts, the acorn type looks nice, but I've opted for nylocks. Again, whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, it just comes down to personal preference. I think that inside looks best, and make sure you mount them correctly front ways as well. When you look at the car from the side (profile) they should curve away from the car. A dome top nut looks good, preferably nylock, yes.

Depends also whether it is a 289 comp/FIA car. The 289's had their jacks turned in as opposed to the 427 S/C turned out.
General rule of thumb( ) is nuts out...yet old pictures of the original cars, both 289 and 427 show them both ways and differing front to rear, even some of the museum cars are different.
As was said whatever you like best.

Thx Guys, I decided to go "nuts out" and when with SS nylocks.
I could not get the new rubber grommets (or whatever they are called) to fit in the holes in the front. Is there a trick to makeing this happen?
btw, the rears were very easy.

First, make sure the OD of the center between the inner and outer flanges matches or is slightly smaller than the hole. Warm the grommets by laying then in the sun, with a heat gun or sit on them, lubricate them with WD-40 or soapy water, then work each grommet into a hole. Pinch the grommet together, get one flange in, then push the rest in until it snaps into place.

May I suggest you have them powder coated or chromed before whichever way you put them on.
Mine are showing metal from "exposure".
