Default Friggin WIND! Still no damn power going into the 6th night.

Man, how did people do it way back when? Freezing my butt off every night and going through internet withdrawls (at a sandwhich shop with internet access right now).

Ok, I have determined that someone has placed a curse on me. I took two weeks of vacation around Thanksgiving which turned into a hospital stay and recovery...Ended up taking that as sick time. Then scheduled the last 3 weeks of the year as vacation (haven't taken more than few days in the last couple years), and now this BS. We would just leave, but I have a little issue with clay and water at my place, so water tends to move across the clay under the house (we're on a bit of a slope) and pumped out otherwise my crawl space turns into a swimming pool, so I'm stuck babysitting a damn generator. How frustrating.

Ok, I'm done complaining...Surely others have it worse, but I just had to vent.

Yeah, I thought about that, except at ~2.70 a gallon, I'm spending about $25 per 24hrs in gas and I'm pretty sure that's more than I typically spend. Got anymore uplifing glass half full thoughts?

Brent sorry to hear of your situation, I am sure when the power comes back on you will really appreciate it, what caused it to go out in the first place.. down here in Florida when we lose power we sweat our butts off, beats working out to lose weight..

I've seen some pretty nasty $#i! in India. Trust me, on our worst days we have it sooooo much better than 99% of the rest of the world.

Hang in there!

ok, now that puts it all in perspective! Thank you for that! Sometimes it's hard to see the forest through the trees. Its easy to get caught up in how crappy something can be and forget about all the other bigger problems in the world, past and present.

Can you fire up the Kirkham and connect the alternator to the house? Just keep it reved up you'll think it's summer and still spend $3.00 a gallon for gas!

Brent,
If you want to solve your dilema, install a big mother generator wire it into your panel with a proper switchover, stock up on fuel & sit back.
You will never have a major power loss again.
Don't ask--- it works.

Craig

What about hooking up a stationary bike to the generator? No utility or gasoline bills. If you lose a little weight, your cobra will be that much faster. What is it that is said about for every 10 lbs lost, it's good for ? 5 hp ? Also, with the holidays coming up, get a head start on sliming down before indulging oneself.

That was some storm! We got nailed with 60 MPH winds here in the Vancouver BC area with winds in Hurricane range over the ocean. I saw the news from your area Brent, and lots of damage, some deaths as well.

Good thing these extreme weather events are rare in our part of the world.

Hope you are spinning the meter again soon.

Greg.

We were with out power where I live for 56 hrs. We have some friends on the south end of the Island that have been out since Thursday night. They toughed it out until Sunday when they accepted our invite to come here to shower, have a hot meal and sleep.
I took them a generator and fuel and 2 oil heaters yesterday morning from our business. PSE "thinks" they might have their grid up sometime late tomorrow.

Hang in there it'll get better.

We lost power for about 24 hours only due to a recent earthquake here in Hawaii. One of the things I did was fire up my motorcycle to use the headlight for, well, light!

The luxury of the boat is that we have solarpanels, and a wind generator. When we lost power due to the hurricane. We had lights, cooking, ssb radio, the food stayed frozen, did some BBQing too. When we finally move to the Philippines we will use the same equipment to power our home. Living on a boat makes you very effecient in the use of everything, especially water.
