Default 2008 Run to the Sun- Part 4 (Urgent!!!)

Hi all,

Normally Sun Mountain Lodge has a 2 night minimum on the week ends. They do have 15 to 18 rooms available Saturday night July 26, 2008, which I have on hold until January 21st. By January 21st we (meaning me) have to put down a $500 deposit which is refundable. The room rate will be $210 per night, plus lodging tax of roughly 10%. The Lodge will rope off a parking area for the cars and we can make arrangements for group dinning in the Wolf Creek Bar & Grill at the Lodge.

Everyone would need to make their own reservation, with the Lodge right away, once we finalize the agreement with the Lodge. If you cancel it has to be done at least 90 days before the arrival date.

Soooooo, we need a firm head count on those who are serious about making the trip and I need your response by the 21st. I am going to try and get an extension, but don't plan on it yet.

Regards To All!
Dale

I plan on making the trip this year for the first time, but I have relatives in STL so I won't need lodging?

Is this usually in October?

Hi All,

Just realized with all the website problems, and the loss of my original thread, some people may not be aware of the route we are planning

The trip will be from Snohomish to Winthrop, WA via Hwy 20 on Saturday. Sunday we will travel from Sun Mountain LOdge in Winthrop to Leavenworth via Hwy 97, and Hwy 2 back to the west side of the Cascades.

This is the first year for the run. Wintrhop is 240 miles from Winthrop, so it would not be practical to stay in Seattle.

Default Run to the Sun 2008 Part 7

We are entering final discussions with Sun Mountain Lodge. We will be finalizing the number of rooms that will be held for the participants to reserve. Gloria and I will be making a $500 deposit to hold the rooms while everyone is making their reservations.
More details will follow once we have signed the agreement with SML.

Right now there are a total of 6 cars participating.
Is anyone else interested in making the run?????

If you have questions you can call med at 360-563-5505

Regards,
Dale McBain

I made my reservation. I was told by Sun Mountain that a section of rooms was reserved for us. I was also told that a parking area would be sectioned off for our cars. Good Deal!

Default 2008 Run to the Sun- It is Time to make your hotel reservations!! – Message #8

Hi All,

Well, we now have an official agreement with “Sun Mountain Lodge” for “The Run to the Sun on July 26th & 27th, 2008.

The total number of rooms available SML are 15. Four(4) the rooms have already been taken by some eager beavers! If you wish to participate in the run you need to make your reservations right away before all the rooms are gone, there are only eleven(11) left. Check in will be at 4:00 PM.

To make your reservations, call Sun Mountain Lodge at (509) 996-2211. Tell them you want to reserve a room for one night on July 26th, 2008, and reference the block rooms being held for the “NW Cobra Club”.

We will try and set up a dinner reservation for all in the Wolf Creek Bar and Grill there at the resort. We may be able arrange some appetizers.

Just a reminder, normally Sun Mountain Lodge requires a 2 night minimum stay on the weekend, so we’ve lucked out.

Best Regards,
Dale & Gloria McBain

P.S.- For reference the following are the original e-mails that were lost when the Club Cobra website went down.

First Annual Run to the Sun. Tentative Date June or July '08
________________________________________
Who is interested in making a run to Sun Mountain this summer. It would be a weekend run.

Leave Saturday morning take Hwy 20 to Winthrop, then on to Sun Mountain for dinner and spend the night. Leave the next morning for Leavenworth for lunch. Continue on to Monroe, WA where we split up and go our separate ways.

If enough people are interested I will see what kind of hotel rate can be arranged.

The view from the hotel dinning room is spectacular day or night.

Input is appreciated regarding timing and routing

First Annual Run to the Sun. Tentative Date June or July '08 - Part 2
________________________________________
Hi All,

I looks like there is some interest in the "Run to the Sun".

Tentative dates; weekend of July 26th & 27th -OR- August 9th & 10th. Comments??

Rallying Point:
- Snohomish, WA or Lake Stevens, WA
- Time 10:00 AM

Routing Day 1-
- Hwy 9 to Hwy 530 north.
- Hwy 530 to Rockport Cascade Rd.
- Rockport Cascade Rd. to Marblemount, WA (Stop for lunch).
- Pick-up Hwy 20 east at Marblemount, WA.
- View point / rest stop about an hour out of Marblemount on Hwy 20.
- Continue on Hwy 20 to Winthrop, WA.
- Take Hwy 20 to Paterson Lake Rd to Sun Mountain Lodge.

Routing Day 2-
- Back on Hwy 20 to Hwy 153 South
- Hwy 153 to Hwy 97 South
- Hwy 97 to Hwy 97 Alt.
- Hwy 97Alt to Hwy 2
- Hwy 2 to Leavenworth, WA (Stop for lunch).
- Hwy 2 to Snohomish,WA

Note: Some people may want to split off at Hwy 97 and take Blewitt Pass home.

Lodging Saturday night:
- Sun Mountain Lodge.
- We will attempt to get a group rate, but each person will be responsible for making and guaranteeing their reservations.

Dinner Saturday Night:
- We will see what can be arranged for the group. If we can take over a portion of the Wolf Creek Bar & Grill at the hotel that would probably be the best.

Let me know your comments. I would like to have this all organized by the end of January. We will be competing for hotel reservations with other events in the area.

Dale

At the rate they are getting snow in the mountains this year, they may not have the North Cascades Highway open in time.

Default 2008 Run to the Sun

Hello,

The follwoing is a text of an e-mail from Geoff Childs at Sun Mountain Lodge-

"I have submitted a revised reservation showing four (4) rooms in your block. If other members of the Cobra group should subsequently decide they would like to do the drive to Sun Mountain just tell them to call our reservations department and give your group number (R# 45B0O1) and we will still give them a room and your group rate as rooms remain available."

So if you want to come you better make your reservation now. Normally there is a 2 night minimum at Sun Mountain on the Weekends in the summer, but those of us who are going the run were fortunate to get these rooms for a single nignt.

Bye!
Dale McBain
