Jake,

It's hard to argue against the sound and torque of a BB and as far as mileage goes I don't think many of us had that as a consideration when we built/purchased these vehicles. Hope your back on the road soon; been missing you on some evening/weekend runs.

“Good time to go with a small block”
LOL. You itty- bitty block guys crack me up.
That’s like saying “Good time to have your junk shortened”
Holly freakin cow! Why?
When will you democrats of the Cobra world learn? when it comes to man stuff, Bigger is ALWAYS better.
Motors, breasts, beer, steaks, garages. Bigger = better!

Jake,
Stay far away from that cult! Pretty soon they’ll be telling ya: “The mother ship is almost here! Drink the punch!”
After owning/driving a 500+ hp BB car for some time, replacing it with a SB would leave you wanting every time you stepped on the gas.

Jake,

Listen to D-cel, he appears to be very rational on this topic.

Wish I could have made the trip. I am excited about your new motor. If you need any help removing old motor let me know. We could have a club work weekend and get that engine out. Let me know.

Jim, thanks for the offer. I may need a hand yanking it or dropping the new beast back in. I will keep you up on the progress. I made pretty good headway on it today. The only tuff thing I have not done is pulled the header bolts. This is proving to be a less then a fun task. I know that putting in a SB would make it easy, so please do not go on any tirades .
Once the headers bolts are loose I think I could have it out in about 2 hours.

Jake, I saw the smoke and oil. Glad to hear that you are positive about it and there was no body injury.

IM VERY RATIONAL DAM IT!!!

John,

Yes I am, your lack of cubic inches. I figure one really fast Cobra (mine), makes up for yours and the rest of your ilk.
Honestly though, I’m a little creeped-out with how quickly you jumped from the BB/SB debate to the size of my junk Dr. Freud. Try to stay focused.
And John, you should be proud. For that matter I’ve seen on the news that they have parades every so often, where you can stand up and loudly proclaim your pride. You can march with like minded folks and maybe even make some new friends. Don’t worry, this is a supportive forum, we will stand behind you and support in your decision. Just don’t stand behind me, im a little uncomfortable with that.

D-cel

John,
im just kidding... about small blocks sucking.

Small "bocks"? Were you confusing blocks and bollocks?

D-Cel, you crack me up. Hey, you didn't happen to see my normally asperated 302 pass my buddy at turn 9 on the front strait at Fernley? He had a 427 and couldn't catch me. It's not the size, it's what you DO WITH IT!-John

After 19K miles, most of them on the track I just rebuilt my 385 series 429 SCJ. The bearings were toast and my PJ gear drive dog bone was broken in two. I had it honed and replaced the gear drive with a Milidon gear drive along with total seal gapless rings and upgraded bearings. She never broke on me but track miles are hard miles. Cost $2K just to freshen her up....
