Default Need a windshield

I am looking for a windshield for an Everett Morrison. I have tried to contact them with no reply. I think we should have a customer satisfaction section on this web site and see what cobra maker provides the best overall service. This would be helpfull to future buyers of cobras.

Jim

Jim,

Do you know if perhaps a windshield from another manufacture might work?
Make a cardboard template of yours and compare it to my FFR or Jake's Superformance to see if they might work. I personally know both companies have excellent customer service.

I also have an E-M and had to replace my windshield. I bought through Finish Line and it worked perfect.

Smile Lexan

1/4" tinted Lexan is a choice. Remove old glass, make a paper template and transfer to a sheet of Lexan. We bought a couple of pieces from a local auto glass shop. Use a Rotozip or saw to cut the Lexan. Sand the edge smooth. Install in old frame. Should cost less than $200.

From what I understand, all of the windshields are the same for all of the makes of Cobras. Mine was just over $300.00 from Finishline.
Though, If I have to do it again I am thinking about Lexan. I believe you have to put in a thicker gasket between the windshield and the frame. The glass is just a bit thicker.

Smile Glass

I have seen two different windshields for Cobra. I just checked Finishline and their price for glass is $495. Make sure it fits before you buy.

Thank You all for your advice.
Steve, If you had not told me I had a few screws loose I would have not tightned my windshield visor so tight.

Wow, I am going to have to re-look at my receipt. Two different windshields, Huh, I'll have to look into that.

Terry

P.S. I just looked at my invoice and the windshield glass was $295.00 in Jan. 2008. The price must have really gone up.

For those who have tried Lexan, are you satisfied with the clarity and how about cleaning it. Does the Sun yellow it or make it brittle?

Thank's

Jim, if you do find a windshield. The Speedy auto glass on 126th and Meridian is well versed on Cobra windshields and will take on the cause for you. They are fixing the red SPF as I write this. The number is 848-9538 and ask for John.

Check with your insurance company most have a windshield replacement clause where they will replace the glass from "road damage" for as little as $100 deductable.

I have had a Scratch resistant Lexan windshield on for 21 yrs and it still works OK ,although it does have a few scratches, but none from the wipers and I have used them a bunch. Absolutely no discoloring .I had a crash and the Lexan screen broke a tree branch, which left a good scratch.
I recently bought a new piece and made extra large SideWings at the same time. The Lexan is so tough that you can jigsaw and drill without cracking. The sides just use 800 grit waterpaper and then finish with 1500 and it looks just like glass, but will not break.

I went to Lexan about three years ago after replacing three windshields in less than a year. I will not pay $500 or more for my Cobra Windshield again. Actually, for about $100 you can get enough Polycabonite to make two windshields if you don't mind cutting them out yourself. Plastic Engineering here in Tulsa will cut them for you and you have $80 or you can but a sheet and cut your own for just a little more.

Well, I ended up ordering a windshield on Ebay. I will go to lexan on the next one. I needed two windshield frames. One cut to about 1/2 original height and one normal height. I saw a cobra with a 1/2 or 1/3rd windshield and it looked great. He only used the side windshield frame with no top frame. Sounds bad, but adds a compitition look that I like.
