Default New windshield

A few weeks ago I wrote about needing a new windshield for my cobra. I bought a new one on ebay for $ 700. The windshield was complete with frame (they were sold with or without frame). The windshield arrived in good shape. The frame posts included with new windshield, needed cut shorter and re-drilled to fit my particular car. I used the original posts as a template and it was an easy replacement. entire replacement took about one hour. The windshield included all mounting screws except for the screws needed to mount visor and side wings. The pre drilled holes for visors were a diffrent size that what was originally used. I needed to buy those screws. The cost to buy glass only, and have glass shop make replacement was the same as buying the entire windhhield and perhaps more.

Be very careful with the visor screws.
Don't ask me how I know, but I do.

What DBL said. Be careful with any screws that go into the frame. The problem shows itself when the screws are too long and contact the windshield glass. They will crack it if the come in contact with it either on the edge or the face of the glass.

The way I understand it, there are two different windsheilds European and domestic . Everett Morision sells the European and Midstates sells the domestic. My second windsheild glass cracked a day after installation two years ago. It was just sitting in the garage and a 1 1/2' crack appeared at the bottom right of center. No screws in that area. I went for a ride around the neighborhood last week , the crack went all the way to the top and started back down again. As I see it now, they are supposed to be cracked. I have the third windsheild glass in attic but am going to wait a while before installing.

I went with a Lexan windshield and absolutely love it.
