diff drain plug
I was all pumped up and ready for my B&B to take it's first steps on it's own. I just need to add fluid to the newly installed tru-trac diff. I sent to remove the drain plug which in in the diff, not the housing, and the 3/8 square stripped (rounded). It sticks out some so I tried vise grips on it to opne and stil no luck.
Any suggestions? I really want it to move under it's own power today Thanks, Jim |
Weld a bolt to it (assuming it is iron). Then replace it with a new plug.
Good luck. |
remove axle on one side and add lube thru the axle hole
or thru the vent hole--usually a hollow bolt type fitting that holes the brake lines to rear |
Heat the plug with a propane torch, then touch the outer edge perimeter with a candle an some wax will wick into the threads, allow it to cool and try agaon with the Vise Grips. Replace the plug with a steel internal hex tapered pipe plug from hardware store.
