A LM-1 and a laptop are all you need. You can richen up the idle, lean it out a hair between 2500 & 3000 RPM and fatten it up between 4500 & 6000 RPM (or any other adjustments you want) in a couple of mins. with a few clicks of the mouse and you never get dirty. That's the nice thing about it, perfect adjustments throughout the whole RPM range and it compensates for altittude changes. That's not possible with carbs.

Where's the fun in that? No cussing, busted knuckles, or beer consumed by the case as you try and try again to fine tune the carb's?

You have a point there.
The Complete Dynatek system is $6000. It includes manifold, throttle bodies, injectors, all sensors, ECM, wideband 02, full engine harness, velocity stacks and filter socks.
race-it, sorry about getting your thread off track. Your set-up is BEAUTIFUL. See ya Saturday. John, do you think you can make it?

Unless there's a sale I'm not aware of, or maybe a group buy, an FE setup was advertised by Dynatek at $7,000-$8,000 with all the little extras that are needed for installation. Tom (Rokndad) and I investigated and spoke with the Dynatek people late last year about buying two of them at the same time. Obviously. Tom went with Webers and is very happy.
Please let me know who I can contact to get the $6,000 price. Dynatek's website is now down and under construction. They're now called Dynaperformance or something like that.

I don't know if this is current but it was the first hit when I searched Dynatek. http://commerce.idmi.net/ecommerce/c...ID=165&CI=2817

I don't consider adding a return line "lots of extras" and certainly not $2000 worth. The kit comes complete with everything else.
They may cost more for a FE but the OP has a small block and that's what I was talking about. Ford FE guys are like the Chevy 409 guys, stuck in the 60's.

I'll ignore that last comment, since I wasn't even born when the Chevy 409 was available.
As for the Dynatek system cost, you can believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I want to believe. That's why they make chocolate, vanilla and strawberry (plus another 100 flavors) ice cream. We all think and like differently.
Until one or both of us actually buys the kit and has it installed we're both full of it. Maybe we should contact Dynatek about a group buy?

Very, very nice Al. I'd have to think twice, if it were for an FE.

I'm really not into all day car shows, but this is a good cause, so as long as I don't have to work, I will be there.
I will post up as soon as I know for sure.

I went to Griot's today to buy some cleaning supplies, and on the way home stopped by Blood Enterprises to see if they work on Webers. They do, and even have some parts on hand for tuning. Craig Blood did a great job fine tuning my Holleys. They are not perfect, but then they are a racing only carburator, so he did the best he could with what he had to work with.
Well, with all that said, it looks like there is a good possiblity that I will be trading the dual Holleys for Webers this Winter.
And just so you know Jim (Race It), this is all your fault, and my wife will blame you.

John, Do it, do it, do it. This install is very, very easy. I took about 30 pictures of every step I took in removing the old 4bbl set up and installing the Webers and linkage and wrote down a step by step narrative of the whole thing, thinking that someday when I get some time, I'd write an article for some publication for those shady tree mechanics, like me, who were just a bit reluctant to tear into their BB FE's and put the whole thing back together. If you take your time, and are organized, it's easy and a whole lot of fun. Like you and others have said, there's a lot of fun in putting these together, and then the hunt for the tuning.
I just got back from a drive down Pacific Coast Hwy to Huntington Beach and then back on the freeway, and I could not be happier with these carbs. My car is a screaming monster and runs smoother than it ever did before. And that sound....
You won't be sorry. And there's no dyno, no electronic stuff to guess at, just mechanical stuff to guess at. It's really a fairly straightforward process if you read the references and study the earlier posts on CC. That cuts down on the guessing. And there's lots of guys on here that have taken the plunge and do their own wrenching to help you. Badda Bing!!

I'd love webers on my car for looks alone. Staggering performance is just icing on the cake. Problem is I'm still not confident I could put them on and make them work, or that I have the patience to do it. So, what sort of 'specialist' would one have to go to and just pay to have it done? Can the average Joe at your local garage do it? Is there a way to order them already tuned and just bolt them on? Or, do they really require someone willing to pay the price to own them what with their seemingly constant maintenance?

I put 48 IDA's on KMP549. I bought the conversion kit from Pierce Manifolds.
The engine was being put together at that time ,so i got the right cam and gave the engine specs to Pierce for them to do a baseline setup. The first time I cranked it up, it ran very smooth. I put O2 bungs in the pipes for an LM-1reading. Going thru the tag/title process now, then I will really be able to see how it is running out on the highway. It does look awsome.

is this a deal?
I have the same concerns as Lemans24.
I found this ad on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=
does anyone know anything about them? Does it look like a good deal? I am concerned about hood clearance so the IDF sounds better for me. Are there any downsides of the IDF?
Thanks, Jim
