Unhappy Dave Lowell - We lost a good friend.

Dave lost his battle with acute leukemia Tuesday morning. He was a good friend and a huge car guy. He had many Sunbeam Tigers through the years and then found his FFR. He loved his car and he modified to have the look of a 289. I called his car the chameleon because it would be a different color every year. I've seen it black (twice), blue and red. He was looking forward to getting out and driving it this year. He had not been able to get out and enjoy it most of last year as his wife battled, and lost, her fight with cancer 5 months ago.

Dave enjoyed life and loved to talk cars. He would usually let me drive (chauffeur) his car on cruises as he just enjoyed being in the car and out with others.

I met his two sons last night (one is going to keep his car) and heard some great stories of when they were growing up. I will be forwarding this thread to them also.

Dave will be missed.

Here is Dave checking out my kit when it arrived:

If I remember correctly, I met Dave on a Cobra run to Mt. St. Helens in 2006. He was a great guy. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I met Dave a couple of times. On the cruse to St Helens and at one of our coffee shop meets a few years ago. He was a very nice guy and a true car nut. He will be missed. MadDog

Carman, I am sorry to hear about the passing of Dave. He was a great guy and I enjoyed getting to know him on Cobra runs. Also as a side note...in the third picture you posted the late Keith Lyles is pictured, also a great man that I think of often. Life is short so dream big and hit the loud pedal often!

Jake,
Your right Keith is in the third picture and I made my first run with Keith and you guys before Keith moved back, East DC. I think of these guys often and you have to live each day and tell the people you care about how much you love them as life can be short.

I was fascinated by Dave's chameleon car. I loved that fact that he had the where with all to refine it to such a high level. He was a quintessential car guy. Godspeed Dave and best to your family.
