Default They did eveything but smack me with a glove !!

Well ladies and gentelman the Central Ohio Miata club says they are ready to do some snake killing !!! (or so they think)
I just recently attended the October Miata club meeting and they have all thrown down the gauntlet and inveted the Cobra Club to particapate in their autocrosses next season . The Miata guys have even started ordering Mongoose shirts to try to intimidate any weary Cobra owners.
This will be a great group to do some events with , not only do they have a good sense of humor but some pretty decent driving skills and even larger egos. That is one of the many reasons I think it will be too much fun to stomp those little rodents ( oops did I say that ) I mean to particapate in their autocrosses next season .

On the other front summer is drawing to a close, there are only a hand full of great days left to drive I would like to do a Southern Ohio drive with some of the other cobra owners . This drive would be scheduled for a Sunday over the next 2 weekends I could plan a agenda in a very short time frame . A couple of options are a short 3 to 4 hr drive or a longer 5 to 7 hr drive that would include lunch in Athens or Oak Creek Lodge In Southern Ohio .
Let me know if you are interested
Talk to you soon
Aaron

Thumbs up

Guys,
We just started the "mother of all projects" at work, so my schedule is spotty until February...

BUT, if I can, I'll be there.

Anyone heard the weather report for this weekend?

Dave

You guys are lucky--Hocking Hills is in your back yard--

Us Northerners will probably do the Meto park system in Cleveland- but the weather doesn't look favorable for that short trip, but were hopeing.

As far as the race goes-I've never done that but it sure sounds like fun--and my life is demanding some excitement--I'm sure Frank, Chad, Brian and Les would be interested. How about it guys--Also, Jim said he was going to race his "Shell Valley" this summer--Getting smacked with the gloves could be interesting--maybe we can use our boots--

We need to set the date for our meeting in Columbus for the first of the year. I think we all agreed on the end Jan.

Enjoy--
Mike

Default January Meeting

Mike:

When we decide on a date, I can set up a meeting place. We've sort of established a loose relationship with Germain Ford, an SVO/SVT shop here in Columbus and they have some facilities available to us. Besides, the meeting would be a good opportunity to solidify that relationship and elicit their support for DVSF II.

Mike, I will be taking the car to Mid-Ohio this summer for the SAAC "open track" time, not racing. Racing voids insurance, like any speed contest does. Besides, I will have my hands full just getting around the track at speed.
As far as going against the Miata's, we will probably get our butt kicked. Cobra's are the '60's technology, Miata's are the latest. Also we are overpowered for autocross. But it will be fun. I am sure we will get lessons in graceful losing. The Miata Club people knew what they were doing when they challenged Cobra owners.

Default The Miata guys

The Miata guys are a little shakey I went to their last autocross and was only a second slower than the fastest guy, and I only had 2 runs on street tires without seeing the layout to his 8 runs on autocross tires. I think it will be a great bit of fun . If I thought I was leading us to some sort of parking lot beating with orange cones and stopwatches. You would have seen brakelights and turn signals.!!!

As for the Southern Ohio drive the only thing that I have heard about this weekend is cloudy for Sunday, we may have to go for the the following weekend , and I think that Frank has a drive planed for that weekend weather permiting .

Aaron, were you the 392 that was at Mid-Ohio for the open track this past Aug 17 that was doing so well? I am all for auto cross against the Miata's. I am surprised to hear Cobras do so well. Autocross hardly gives us a chance to stretch our legs.
I recently sent dues money to SCCA. Figure they have auro-cross events all the time. Akron Sports Car Club is another one one I am checking out. I meet a bunch of nice guys at the Corvette show in Medina recently and learned about Akron club from them.

Default not me

It was not me at Mid Ohio In august I was still sorting out my car ( you know chasing the last oil leaks down that kind of stuff) .
It is true that you never get your car to psyco speeds but you do get to drive it to the absolute limitwith little or no risk of damaging it . That in its self is worth the price of a Sunday in the sun .

This is for every one As for the Southern Ohio drive this Sunday looks like it will be near 70 and at least partly sunny. So if you are interested let me know and I will Email you the proposed drive.

I also would be interested in having another meeting, Maybe we could shoot for the last week in October or the first couple of weeks in November .
Talk to you soon
Aaron

Thumbs up Last nice weekend??

Well guys, the weather looks like it's gonna be stellar for the weekend....maybe the last nice, warm weekend of the year.

I'm up for a cruise of some sort, but I'm afraid I can't commit a whole day...just too many other obligations. Here's a few things I know are going on. Saturday night, our local cruise here in Marysville at the Burger King. Sunday, the regular cruise at Polaris Quaker Steak and Lube. Or, perhaps we could arrange a shorter version of the southern Ohio drive. What does everyone think? Sunday will be my best time, from afternoon onward.

We've got two days to plan something!

Dave

Default Hocking hills drive

There is a shorter loop that lets you take in all the southern Ohio sights that would take about 3 hrs. If anyone is interested let me know. It is going to be really nice on Sunday ( or so they say )
so we should plan on doing a drive on Sunday .
you can Email me directly @ asaez92566@aol.com or call me from the Ohio Cobra list .
Talk to you soon .

Default Where is everybody??

Well, guys, I hope everyone got to get out and enjoy the Indian summer today. After various failed attemps to rally the troops, I headed out solo for some scenic cruising. Beautiful day, perfect Cobra weather! Did about 2 hrs. out in the country, along some river routes, and a little through the big city. I think many people had the same idea today. Some of the other fine hardware I noticed today: 1 very nice black '57 T-Bird, countless drop-top Mustangs of all years, lots of C5 vettes, 1 nice '66 vette, several Boxsters, a couple SLK's, a high $ BMW Z8, some nice Jags, and last but not least, our very own JR in his black/gold SPF! Stopped to wipe a 10 lb. bug off his windshield at a Marathon station.

I hope everyone else had a great day of cruising. Surely, these nice days are limited.

Dave

P.S. These cars STILL get more attention than anything, even in the presence of mega-buck cars!!

ARON, WENT TO AKRON SPORTS CAR CLUB YESTERDAY AT THE GOODYEAR TECH CENTER. THERE WERE MIATAS, MUSTANGS, HONDAS, A LOTUS, CORVETTES, CAMAROS, BMW, VWS, JUST ABOUT EVERY 4 CYLINDER ENGINED CAR MADE WAS REPRESENTED. AND GUESS WHAT? THE 4 CYLINDER CARS WERE JUST AS FAST AS THE BIG BAD 8 CYLINDER CARS. IT WAS ALL UP TO DRIVER SKILL. THIS AUTOCROSS IS THE WAY TO GO FOR FUN AND ADRENILIN. I ARRIVED TO LATE TO SEE THE WHOLE PROCESS BUT DID CHECK OUT TIRES, ETC. AND GENERALLY HOW IT WAS RUN. THE CLUB DOES A GOOD JOB. EVERYTHING SMOOTH, NO WAITING, JUST STEP UP AND TRY YOUR BEST.
