Jan. 20th state meeting at DV's
All,
Thanks to DV for offering his home/garage for our state meeting,
hopefully, the invitation still stands.
I think the meeting should be open to all persons who want to assist with the spring fling, and of course, to all COBRA lovers.
Those of us from the frozen north would like to to sleep in (at least I would) -- so how about noon at DV's place.
I will make up an agenda, so if anyone has anything to discuss please forward them to me--this is important--so we can get as much accomplised as we can--
One that I have is the election of officers--A couple of guys have shown an interest so, as I indicated before, if you are interested in guiding the club or being an officer please throw your hat into the ring.
Ideas and thoughts regarding Jan. 20th to this forum please.
Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Of course the offer is still open! We'll keep track of the numbers from the forum. Anything else The Mrs. and I can help with?

Mike,
I can't make the Jan meeting because we have other plans for the 20th. I would be interested in helping at the Spring Fling though. Perhaps with the auction, if Cindy and Les are going to do it again.
Keep me informed.

Maury--thanks for the feedback--I sure Les and Cindy can use the help--I hear they are real slave drivers.
Ed Combs--
I can bring the chocolate chip cookies--if store bought is ok--
How many people can you accomodate? Hopefully we will have a large turn out--
Arron:
Good luck trying to get more members from the sunny south. I would think southern Ohio would be filled with COBRA'S-- if you need help contacting them let me know. Thanks for stepping up to the plate and trying to recruit new members. I will work with the folks up here to get a large turnout.--OK-Jim, Frank, Les, Steve, Maury & Chad.
All;
When we get together on the 20th, I would like to start off by having the election of the officers. I will have an agenda made up and as soon as the offices are elected I will turn over the agenda-to them-I think this is a fair way to do it, as we don't know who wants to or will take over the helm.--Thankfully a couple of people have show an interest. I think we have a good chance of becoming the largest club in the states. With our relationship with Cystic Fibrosis and the Spring Fling, whoever takes on this challenge will have an important role in maintaining this relationship. If you have anything you want added to the agenda please forward your thoughts to me.
So with all that said, I think we are on the right track--

Mike,
Mrs. DV says I'm on a diet!
About the election of officers. I am thankfull for all the help, the new organizatino of Cobra clubs in Ohio and for all the past and pledged help for the Spring Fling for the future.
Who ever takes the jobs involved will be kept very busy. Of course it will be a two fold job. Everything of course will not revolve around out the Spring Fling!
I hope we can organize over the coming years for all types of events, "LITTLE" picnics , general cruises, breakfast/brunches, what ever. We have a great group of people here. I for one am looking forward to all the events that I know we can make happen!

Ed,
I totally agree with you. It seems we have the same agenda and I hope whoever taks over feels the same way. The idea for the club originated after the Spring Fling--I (we) had so much fun and met so many great people, I wanted to keep that feeling alive--I think it will happen. Thanks for your support and friendship.
PS--Mrs. DV has been wrong in the past--(don't tell her I said so)
so you could go off the diet for one day--my, day old, store bought cooks are to die for.

Jan. Meeting!
Mike,
Count me in! Cindy might not be able to make it, she went back to work rescently, and her schedule changes week to week. It will be nice to see everyone agin and share ideas for the club.
Maury.. like DV and Mike said, anyone who assists with the Spring Fling, or the club, is very much needed and appreciated. Hope to see everyone in Jan.
Happy Holidays!

Mike:
Count on me!! We've already had a Central Ohio Chapter meeting--very successful! An agenda sounds great. Keep things focused! Elections sound like a good way to start!
To all: I've written to Steve Germain about the situation with the Ford Dealership and Lo and Behold--got a call from the GM on my message machine last night. I haven't called him back yet but we'll see what happens around affiliation with Germain. Next step--Corporate Sponshiorshio for DVSFII!

Well,
I can't think of one reason that a FORD dealer would not want involved in this. I would think they would even sponser a COBRA show during Spring Fling--can you imagine the coverage and the number of potential customers he could have on his lot?--Oh well.
I'm glad you guys in the Central region had a successful meeting--so much can be done--keep up the good work--
Maybe other COBRA CLUBS would be interested in adopting Cystic Fibrois as fund raiser and joining us at the Spring Fling--
Have a good one.

Just a little footnote.
Alice from CF will be joining us on the 20th. Frank and I will hopefully be dropping a huge bombshell on everyone, DVSF orienated of course. Well, maybe two bombshells!
Has anyone picked a time for this little gathering? Totally open on this end.

DV--
Yup--the meeting is set for 12:00 noon---
Does Alice want time on the agenda or is she just observing?
What items do you want to discuss for the FLING?
Like are we going back to the race track or will Germain want a hugh COBRA car show on Saturday or Sunday?
I can hardly wait--for the big FLING--
Will we have raffel tickes to pass out?
Well I'm off to New York--
Talk later,
Mike

Agenda Items-Jan 20th Meeting
Mike:
Some agenda items we might want to consider:
1. Should we (as a club) tie OCC to Cystic Fibrosis and DV Spring Fling? In other words should they become our "raison d' etre"? (our reason for existing) Not that I'm not for it but should OCC decide if they want to do that?
2. If we do go for the above, do we need to incorporate as a club? If so, who picks up the tab? Ohio cystic Fibrosis? National Cystic Fibrosis? Do we file for tax exempt status? We might get Alice a copy of the agenda as she might be able to answer some of these questions.
3. Do we really need chapters (North, Central, South) or can we function with one organization comprised of officers from each region? Does the one organization concept make us stronger or weaker?
And last but not least, I'll talk to Germain about a Cobra show during the Fling. Let's test their commitment!

OCC:
Noon is good for us. Very flexible here, earlier or later is fine too.
Alice will come and participate, observe, offer suggestions, whatever.
Frank: As far as "Germain" being involved, I only see Friday during the day as a possibility. Friday evening we have everyone coming to the lodge. But, for all those early arrivers, and MOST did arrive a litle early last year, the "Germain idea" may be just perfect. Tell them to clear the lot.
Raffle tickets........ That is still a temporary secret! Hopefully by the 20th this is the 2nd Bomb that will be dropped.
Looking forward to it!
DV
P.s. Frank, this may be the perfect event for daytime Friday. Get Germain to jump in as a sponsor and we will advertise them all over the web and our flyers. I will need a quality photo of their lot, building, whatever they want, and a large 6' to 8' Banner if "that other" event comes to be!

ATTENTION!
DV
Let me make it PERFECTLY clear.!!
The Side Oiler block is NOT a donation. It is not to be auctioned off or borrowed or any other clever scheme to be separated away from me.
Look but don't touch.
With all these preparations, I didn't want one of the volunteers to get any ideas.
Thanks for doing that for me by the way.
