Default Dvsf Auction

This is for all:

I've talked With Ed (DV) and we need to get out and get items to be auctioned off at the Fling.
So I would like to encourage each one of us to contact a vendor and see if they would donate something to be auctioned off.
Ideas may include, Auto Zone, Sears, True Value, any automotive dealer, Pep Boys, Jegg, Summit Auto and any other parts distributors. The list goes on and on--

I would like to use this thread to co-ordinate this and to keep it organized.

When you contact someone identify them on here--We don't want 3 or 4 people contacting Jeggs or Summit or any other vendor. Also, when someone does donate, use this site to share what the item is and who gave it. It would be nice to be able to send them a thank you card. So we will need name and address.

Each one of should be able to contact at least one, hopefully more dealers.

I know, at the meeting, some mentioned they were already working on getting items--so lets get the process organized--

Please be aware of locations and where people live--a free oil change in Ocala, Florida may not get people overly excited.

Again, lets use this site for this purpose only--constructive ideas and thoughts are encouraged--

Let's take this occasion to show others what a strong club we are and what we can do for Cystic Fibrosis--

So the challenge has been made--it is up to us--
Thanks,
Mike

Brian,
Excellent idea--if you like we can do that when we check in--
then we can turn over the certificate to Cindy & Les-I would think they would be willing to do this--it sounds like you are willing to take this on---if this is ok--you got it!
Thanks,
Mike

Mike, I had this strange gut feeling that I might have volunteered myself for this. It was either that or my girlfriends meatloaf!!!

Ok, I'll make a few calls and start begging!!!! One other question.......would these donations be tax deductable and if so, what do we use as a receipt??? Just trying to answer a question before it is asked.

Brian

Brian--
Good question--I'm sure Cystic Fibrosis will have some tax forms--
Ed Combs should have the answer--
If you want, you could wait until check in time to ask the motels--I know Ed has talked with each motel to reserve the rooms--maybe he has some contacts--maybe we should talk to him first so we don't step on any toe's.

Ed any feedback???

UUUUmmm meat loaf--one of my favorites

Great ideas, guys!

I'm working on something that could really be cool, not only for the auction, but for our club as well! I hope to be able to post details here soon. I'll be in sunny California for 10 days for work in February, but I promise more info when I get back!

Hint: It should give everyone a real "lift"!!

Brian--
Maybe we should check with DV before you move on this--he has been in contact with each motel when he reserved them. He may also have the contact person's name and I'm not sure if he has already asked.

Regarding being tax exempt, I would think any donation would be--so we would need to get the tax exempt number from Cystic Fibrosis. Again I think we need to rely on Ed for this--I will call him and get back to you with the answers--

Meatloaf--my favorite

Mike

Steve,

Thanks, if you want company let me know--I'm sure we can kill some time looking around--and viewing the rims--and other "guy" toys. I'm sure Frank would go also.
Maybe we can make a day of it and hit a few other places--
Mike

I'm here! Sorry to take so long to respond.

Receipts: Guys, no matter what you go after, tell the donater to give you a receipt and have it marked DONATED TO CYSTIC FIBROSIS. Alice in turn will also send them a full receipt with the CF tax number.

If your donor/sponsor has any questions please have them call me at 740-852-5280. They can also call Alice at 614-846-2440.

Update: Had another meeting with Alice today. The fund raising brochures should be here within days. I will have the whole packet done, hopefully at the same time. These will be available soon to hand out.

Frank, said he has sent JEGS a letter, I in turn will follow up within the next week asking for an audience with John Coughlin.

Now that we will hopefully have some TV coverage, I hope sponsors will be easier to come by.

OH..one more thing, John Hiles, the Strawberry Festival / London Represenative also stoppd in. Told him to triple our parking for this year...he just smiled!

See you soon!

Hey y'all:

I'm working on Jeg's, Rahal Team Racing and Germain Ford!! Germain has agreed to a show on Friday, the 21st. I have yet to work out the details so stay cool! I'll also try to get them to donate some Ford parts for the auction.

Mike,

Great Plan! Les and I will hit Napa here in Wooster Up. They have a great bunch of guys up there. I suggest that if you have a copy of Kit Car magizine, that you take it along with you. Let them see the coverage for their self. Chances are they will want to run with the big dogs!! Also... ask for a business card to attach to their item or items. We want to make sure that they are properly advertised. Gift certifacates are great, but make sure they specify if it has to be redeemed locally or if it can be used Nation wide. You really want them to be redeemable Nation wide for something like this.

Cindy--good idea about taking "kit car" magazine along--
Ed--is it ok for Brian to contact the motels for comp rooms for next years fling--also, how do you want to distribute the hand-outs?

OK folks--just follow the instructions--

Again,
Thanks--

Mike,

I have talked until I'm bluer in the face to the hotels, all three of them hang up the minute you ask for a free room! They are supporting us in a way by agreeing to give us discounts to every occupant compared to their regular rates or the adjoing hotels rates. If every one else agree to pay full price then maybe they would give us a room or two. That means that one or two lucky couples get one free while the rest get dinged! I already nixed that one...sorry.

Frank...The Germain "show" is definate? If so please let me know ASAP as our brochures are coming out very soon. Just a note, it should end by 5PM at the latest so that everyone can get something to eat, clean up, rest, what ever to be at the Makoy center by 7PM.

Cindy, "Cobrakelley" has volunteered to help with the auction. She wants to know if there is anything she can do before or during to help out?

Phew... ONWARD!

DV
PS... guess who finally got his motor together? Not in the car yet, but hopefully by the weekend!

DV:
I'm meeting with Dave Koehler this PM to firm up the show. I'm telling him 12PM or whenever folks show up to 5PM. I'll post on my meeting later. If you get a meeting with John Coughlin, Mention that I'm Steve Hayes stepdad (they went to high school and played football together) My letter to Jeg's went to Jeg jr. so you might mention that as well.

Hi Cindy,
I helped at last years auction as one of the people that collected the money on purchased items. If you need someone to do that job again this year I would like to volunteer. (Or if there is anything else that you need please let me know)

DV - I booked at Hampton with Brenda. She asked if I was with the Cobra group. The best rate she would give me was $80.00/night. When I mentioned the $75.00 rate you had posted, she said no, its $80.00

That would be great Kelly! Thank you. My son David is going to clerk the auction for me since he's done this for be in the past. I will need a couple of good people to cashier the sale. We will need to discuss this as time gets near.
Anyone know how many days left???
